Those golfers, who include Luke Donald, developed their skills on some of the finest facilities in North America right here in the Chicagoland area. Northwestern’s golf team experiences the unique opportunity of taking advantage of these facilities. Conway Farms This Tom Fazio designed course was named by Golf Digest as one of the best new private courses in the nation and it boasts Luke Donald as a member. The par-71 layout is played on an open prairie and offers true links-style golf. Conway Farms served as the host course for the 1997 NCAA Men’s Golf Championships, the 1998 USGA Junior Amateur, the 1999 and 2004 Windon Memorial Classics, the 2006 Big Ten Championships and the 2009 Western Amateur, and the 2012 USGA Mid-Amateur. It also hosted part of the PGA Tour’s FED EX CUP Playoffs- the BMW Championships in 2013 and will again in 2015. Knollwood Country Club Founded in 1924, located on 240 rolling acres in Lake Forest, Illinois, Knollwood Club is one of the premier country clubs in Illinois. The Colt and Alison designed golf course has been chosen several times as a championship level course for U.S. Amateur, the U.S. Mid-Amateur, and the 2013 Windon Memorial. Skokie Country Club Laden with great golf tradition, the par-72 layout is noted for its long, tight tree-lined fairways and extremely fast greens. One of the world’s most renowned course architects, Donald Ross, created this fine test of golf. Established in 1897, this course has served as host for such major tournaments as the U.S. Open and the Western Open. It hosted the 1998 USGA Senior Amateur Championship, the 2009 and 2012 Windon Memorial, and the 2010 Western Amateur. Westmoreland Country Club Westmoreland CC was founded in 1912 and is conveniently located less than 10 minutes from Northwestern’s campus. The course was originally designed by William Watson and renovated in the 1960’s by Angford and A.W. Tillinghast, and the final redesign was done in the 1990’s by Arthur Hills. Over the years Westmoreland has hosted the Western Open, the Western Amateur, the U.S. Women’s Amateur, along with many local U.S. Open qualifiers and the 2014 and 2015 Windy City Collegiate Classic. The Glen Club Designed by renowned architect Tom Fazio, this course features rolling terrain with dramatic elevation changes, meandering lakes and streams, and stunning vistas. The Glen Club opened in 2001 and already has been host to the U.S. vs. Japan college matches and the Illinois Open. It has also hosted the LaSalle Bank Open (now Bank of America Open) for four-straight years as well as the 2005 Big Ten/Pac-10 Challenge, and the 2009 Windy City Classic. The Glen Club also is home to Northwestern’s exclusive Luke Donald Outdoor Practice Facility. Northwestern’s Luke Donald Practice Facility The Luke Donald Outdoor Practice facility includes a 15,000 square foot bent grass tee, a ½ acre bent grass pitching and chipping area with a 6,000 square foot USGA green, bent grass, blue grass and fescue turfed areas for a variety of lies and shots. There are also three practice bunkers, totaling 5,000 square feet for shots of varying length into the green. A 3,000 square foot practice putting green is also part of the practice area. Glen View Club This par-72 course challenges players with its fast, well-bunkered bent greens. Once home to the U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur, the club offers a great short game training area and putting green. It hosted the 2002 Windon Memorial and the 2011 and 2012 Windy City Collegiate. Indian Hill Club Conveniently located less than five miles from the NU campus in Kenilworth, Indian Hill requires very accurate tee shots and strong short iron play. Its small greens bring out the best in the short game. Designed by Donald Ross, it has also hosted many USGA events, including US Women’s Open Qualifiers. Lake Shore Country Club Perfectly manicured fairways and extremely fast greens highlight this course located along beautiful Lake Michigan in Glencoe, Illinois. With a history dating to 1910, Lake Shore’s final four holes are among the best finishing holes in Chicagoland. Lake Shore served as host for the 2007 Windon Memorial Classic, the 2010 Lady Northern and the 2011 Women’s Big Ten Championships. Sunset Ridge Country Club Sunset Ridge Country Club was founded in 1923 and renovated in 2005, it features a 6,752 yard 18-hole course. It has hosted the Western Open and the Women’s Western Open. North Shore Country Club North Shore, which counts Luke Donald among its membership is located less than 15 minutes from campus. North Shore hosted the 2011 Western Amateur, the 1983 U.S. Amateur Championship, the 1939 U.S. Amateur, and the 1933 U.S. Open. North Shore also played host to the 1998, 2003, 2008 and 2010 Windon Memorial Classics. Merit Club Opened in 1992, the par 72 course offers a prairie style course through the rolling terrain. It offers a three hole practice course with two bent practice tees on the driving range as well as a large putting green and chipping area. It hosted the 2000 U.S. Women’s Open. Evanston Golf Club The par-70 Donald Ross design opened in 1917 and is located in Skokie, Illinois. Evanston was restored by Ron Pritchard in 2006. Evanston has been a huge supporter of NU Golf and hosted the Inaugural 2008 Windy City Collegiate Classic, and the 2011 and 2014 Windon Memorial Classic. Northmoor Country Club Established in 1917, this Donald Ross designed course offers Wildcat golfers 27 holes and fantastic country club facilities nestled in a beautiful park setting. Tall oak trees line the fairways, while its large, undulating putting surfaces require a superb touch. It has hosted the 2010 and 2013 Windy City Collegiate Classic, and U.S. Open qualifiers. .
