Despite extensive monumental and artefactual remains for prehistoric activity in the vicinity, the excavations produced no archaeological evidence. The length of these features indicated that they were medieval reverse 'S' variety, a date confirmed by pottery. No other archaeological features were identified within any of the excavated trenches. Work undertaken by: Steven Sherlock Services The Iron Age village at Kilton Thrope Lane comprised of ten prehistoric houses and was identified as an open village with no enclosing bank and ditch [Au(abr)]. The remaining archaeological potential of the area to the south-east of St Germaine's Churchyard must be considered negligible. The slight indications of some prehistoric activity area not considered to be of much importance. The site showed evidence of areas of flooding, cultivation, gardens and the cellars of the present house built in 1770s contain substantial and well preserved parts of the ground floor of the medieval building.
