The Active Shooter Awareness events took place last week on Sept. 10 and 11. Stone said she’s motivated to give these presentations because the first ten minutes of an active shooting are the most crucial. “Law enforcements have tactical training. We train them, but what about the educators? Nobody is teaching these students even though the first ten minutes they are on their own,” she said. During her presentations, Stone told students to be on the lookout for “PINs: Pre-incident Indicators.” She urged students to remember EBD: Escape, Barricade and Defend.
