north side • General landscaping SCIENCE CENTRE STATION Eglinton Crosstown What to Expect: Science Centre Station 2021 Progress to-date Remaining Work in 2021 • Overhead catenary system installation • Substantial completion • Urban tapestry installation • Completion of final landscaping • Tiling artwork installation at the main • Installation of station signage and furniture entrance and platform • Escalator and elevator installations • Floor and wall tiling works • Electrical and communication finishes • Louver installation at the main entrance • Remaining civil works and landscaping • Ornamental fencing installation at the bus terminal • Glazing finishes Eglinton Crosstown LRT East Testing & Commissioning What to Expect • In late May, light rail vehicles (LRVs) will be delivered to the east end of the alignment to conduct testing and commissioning activities between Brentcliffe Road and Kennedy Road. • The LRVs will run mainly on the surface along a track in the center of Eglinton Avenue. • The LRVs will follow traffic signals as they cross through intersections. • Prior to testing, the overhead catenary system (OCS) will be energized in order to power the vehicles. Eglinton Crosstown LRT Testing to Date • First vehicle deliveries to Eglinton Maintenance and Storage Facility (EMSF) in 2019. • Testing Mount Dennis and Caledonia Stations began in 2020. Eglinton Crosstown LRT Eglinton Crosstown LRT Overhead Catenary System (OCS) Energization • The OCS is the poles and cables installed over the LRT tracks that power the LRVs. • Power is delivered from 10 traction power substations along the alignment to the LRVs via OCS cables. • The OCS must be energized in order to power the LRVs. • As of May 3, 2021, the OCS will be energized between Laird and Kennedy stations. • Like other transit systems in the city, when the OCS is energized the cables are electrified and dangerous if encountered.
