LONGING NEW ALBUM LONGING Ladies and Gentlemen, we are pleased to inform you about the new upcoming album by the New Bone jazz band quintet. Tomasz Kudyk’s band will enter the studio in December 2019 to record their sixth album. The expected premiere of the album is March 2020 via CM Records. Tomasz, the New Bone leader, dedicates this album to his late father, Jan Kudyk, a longtime leader of the Jazz Band Ball Orchestra. Tomasz Kudyk on the trumpet will be accompanied by Bartłomiej Prucnal on the alto saxophone and Dominik Wania on the piano. The album will feature original compositions by Tomasz Kudyk arranged for a jazz sextet and one piece by Jan Kudyk, in a special arrangement written by Wojtek Groborz. Judging by the previous New Bone albums, we can expect lyrical, nostalgic music in the form of a jazz narrative. Inspiration for the album goes back to the jazz mainstream developed in mid-20th century. Through this album and the music (recorded in S4 Studio in Warsaw), Tomasz Kudyk would like to express his gratitude and respect for his father, who at the beginning of his musical path was his inspiration and authority. “It is thanks to Dad that I am here today and continue to do what he used to do.” The project will be largely co-financed by the Municipality of Cracow and Tactica Pharmaceuticals. LONGING NEWBONE New Bone is a jazz quintet of successful musicians. Their five albums (including three original ones) established the band’s position in the Polish jazz scene. Authorities in the genre, such as Jarek Śmietana, Piotr Baron or Bogdan Chmura, spoke enthusiastically about their musical achievements. Positive coverage in Polish and foreign press has contributed to the increased interest in the band beyond the borders of our country. The group has received invitations to perform in the farthest corners of the globe and is currently working on further planned performances abroad. The band played in the second edition of Polish Stars of World of Jazz in Moscow, as well as during the International Delhi Jazz Festival in 2013. The New Bone were one of the headliners at the Varna Summer International Jazz Festival in Bulgaria in 2014 and took part in the Art Jazz Cooperation Festival in Ukraine in 2015. It is worth mentioning that while staying in India, New Bone was the first band in history to play a live jazz concert in Kashmir. In November 2018, at the official invitation of the Consulate General in Kaliningrad, the band performed as part of the Jazz in the Philharmonic concert series. In December 2019, they visited Belarus once again, where they performed in the Drama and Music Theater in Brest. NEWBONE NEWBONE NEWBONE LONGING “A story of longing and transience, told in the language of modern jazz. Perfectly scored, multi-faceted music in artful instrumentation, played by outstanding musicians. A mature and profound work.” Bogdan Chmura 2020 OD-JAZZ-DOWO “The immense power of arrangement and studies of individual motifs from performances, makes the fifth New Bone’s album, an album of JAZZ, a very JAZZ album, and charged with JAZZ as very few JAZZ albums with JAZZ compositions. It’s an album with no exaggeration in its title – it’s simply JAZZ madness.” Robert Ratajczak, longplayrecenzje.blox.pl, 2015 FOLLOW ME "The album Follow Me is a festival of arrangers. The quintet gives a perfect performance. Drums and bass are swinging precisely and together, the pianist proves once again his highest world-class, and the frontman copes with such difficult subject so well that the listener can not even guess, of how great difficulty they were to face." Piotr Baron, Jazz Forum 7-8, 2014 DESTINED "A team, led wisely by the leader, plays its own, original music, in which you can hear what is most important in jazz. Groove, swing, great sound, mature solos, attention to form and finally a beautiful balance between respect for tradition and the modern progressive music thinking. It features only the best artists." Jarek Śmietana, Jazz Forum 7-8, 2012 NEWBONE KWINTET NEWBONE Tomasz Kudyk Trumpeter, composer, graduated from the Academy of Music in Cracow.
