Whatever your library type, you will find many fine sessions for your professional growth and development at the 2011 NYLA Conference. NYLA’s sections, roundtables, committees, and affiliates worked diligently to organize and present a wide range of experiences. Marcia Eggleston, NYLA President Visit www.nyla.org for expanded conference information and registration 3 2011 NYLA Conference Catalog Special Guests NYLA Keynote Conference Luncheon Farewell Luncheon Thursday, 12:00pm – 1:30pm Saturday, 12:30pm – 2:30pm Keynote Speaker: Sonia Manzano Speaker: Joe Raiola – Senior – Television actress “Maria” on Editor, Mad Magazine Sesame Street, fifteen time Emmy A favorite on the lecture Award winning television writer, circuit for nearly two decades, and author of two children’s books Joe Raiola has appeared in The Sonia Manzano has been a Joy of Censorship at countless presence on Public Television colleges, theaters, public since the 1970’s. She is best libraries, and professional known for her role as “Maria” conferences, including the on Sesame Street. We begin the evening with a full hot buffet dinner in Fortunes restaurant where you will be dining trackside, overlooking live harness racing, with wagering available right at your table. After dinner, you are free to explore the Casino to test out some of the slot machines, video poker, or even Electronic Roulette. And if slot machines aren’t really your ‘thing’, you can also “get your dance on” at Vapor Night Club, boasting the area’s hottest nightclub and premier live music venue. Author! RASS Noted Author Luncheon Trolley Tavern Tour Thursday, 5:30pm – 8:00pm Friday, 12:30pm – 2:00pm Wednesday, 5:00pm – 8:00pm National Museum of Dance & Hall of Fame, 99 South Larry Kirwan is the lead vocalist and stratocaster for A pub crawl on a trolley! Hop aboard the Horsin’ Around Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY Black 47, an Irish rock band. Larry has produced two solo Trolley Car and let someone else do the driving as you Sponsors: PLS, Communication Services recordings, “Kilroy Was Here” and “Keltic Kids”. He also has get oriented to Saratoga Springs and some of its favorite PLS’s annual special event, sponsored by Communication published two books, Liverpool Fantasy and Green Suede watering holes. Wednesday, 2:00pm – 4:30pm Guests are treated to a first person tour of the Batcheller Museum of Dance & Hall of Fame, the only museum in the Speaker: Mansion by ‘Mr. Batcheller’ and concludes with a Victorian nation dedicated entirely to dance. The museum houses Larry Kirwan, vocalist, author tea with ‘Mrs. Batcheller’. Those who participate receive a growing collection of photographs, videos, artifacts, a copy of the book The Batcheller Mansion. Guests will costumes, biographies, and more. Attendees will have the YSS Empire State Award Luncheon appreciate what it was like to live in this beautiful Victorian opportunity to tour the museum, hear from the author, and Friday, 12:30pm – 2:00pm house, referred to as “Saratoga’s Crowning Glory” by get autographed copies of his books.
