My wife Elizabeth and I are homeowners in Huntington Beach and we both graduated from Huntington Beach High School. After HBHS, I attended Orange Coast College and then transferred to the University of Southern California, where I earned my degree in Public Policy and Management. My qualifications allowed me to successfully serve twelve years on the Huntington Beach Union High School District Board of Trustees and then four years on the Huntington Beach City Council. I also served on the Board of Directors for the Orange County Transportation Authority, chosen by the mayors of Orange County’s Second District. My most successful year in local government was the year I served as Mayor of Huntington Beach, where I saw through the completion of a skate park, led the groundbreaking of a new senior center, repealed several outdated laws, fought to defend our beach bonfire rings and celebrated 100 years of surfing in Huntington Beach. In 2014, the year I served as Mayor of Huntington Beach, you first elected me to the California State Assembly to represent the 74th District.
