THE PARISH OF CHRIST THE REDEEMER PELHAM MANOR , NEW YORK 2018 Capital Campaign JANUARY 28, 2018 175th Anniversary Christ Church Pelham 1843 – 2018 Almighty God, whose loving hand hath given us all that we possess: Grant us grace that we may honor thee with our substance, and, remembering the account which we must one day give, may be faithful stewards of thy bounty, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. - BCP Honoring our past, celebrating our present, planning for our future 2018 marks the 175th Anniversary of Christ Church. We offer our prayers and praises to Almighty God for sustaining our parish through the generations, and we give thanks for the ministry and leadership of our founder Robert Bolton and all who have made Christ Church their spiritual home. We will be marking this milestone with worship and celebratory events, at which we will gather as a community to honor our past, celebrate our present and plan for our future. We are the beneficiaries of the prayers, hard work, stewardship and love of those who have come before us. They are the reason we have this beautiful space in which we can gather, to worship our Lord Jesus Christ, share fellowship and be in ministry together to do God’s work. We are now called by God to ensure that future generations will find a spiritual home in this beautiful, historic church. One of the best ways in which we can honor our heritage is by making a commitment to the future of Christ Church. Over the past ten years, we have invested a significant amount of time and capital, repairing and restoring many areas of our buildings. This has included replacing the roof on the Parish Hall, made possible through the generosity of one of our families, and replacing the roof on the Old Parish House, through the generous gifts of many parish families. There is more work to be done… the roof over the church, other roof components, and a growing list of deferred maintenance projects await. As part of the 175th Anniversary Celebration, we are pleased to announce a Capital Campaign. Our goal is to raise the capital to fund these essential repairs. Over the coming months, the committee will be reaching out to everyone in the Christ Church family and many in the community, to explore ways in which we can work together to reach our goal. Gifts can take many forms, and can be made in one payment, or over time. Every gift is important and no gift is too small. The most important gifts you can give are your participation and your prayers for a successful campaign. By joining our parish family in this initiative, you are honoring the past, celebrating the present, and planning for the future of Christ Church. Thank you for your support, stewardship and prayers for Christ Church throughout this 175th Anniversary year and beyond. “Our little church gets apace. We have had a bell given this week, and the Bible and prayer-books and handsome organ. It is wonderful how many things seem put in our hands. May they all, and always, be used to the praise and glory of God.” –Journal of Anne Bolton, 1845 2 | Parish of Christ the Redeemer Summary of Roof Work 1910 – 2018 1910 Church Slate Installed 1939 Small slate section replaced on South side of single roof span/Pelhamdale Avenue side of the church 1941 Rectory Built (Age of recent roof work not immediately available) 1959 Rectory Garage added 1966 Date of slate on Ranck Building (Parish Offices) 1998 Flat roof over the Church Building (Multiple layers currently in place – most recent coating estimated to be 20 years old) 2012 Parish Hall - slate replaced Jan 2014 Rectory Garage Roof replaced down to plywood 2015 Old Parish House Roof/Asphalt Shingles Replaced (Over Nursery and Parish apartments) 2/16/16 Diocesan Roof Specialist Russ Watsky visit to inspect the church roofs and review conditions.
