She was to give them to Lady Gibbs for safekeeping. Maria-Antoinette was executed in 1792 and her jewels where never recovered. The original safe which was used for the treasure is still in Catsfield Place. After passing Robertsbridge at the John’s Cross roundabout, take the second exit and continue into Battle. At the next roundabout, take the third exit onto the A271 and continue out of the town. After passing The Squirrel public house turn left onto the B2204 and continue into Catsfield. In the centre of the village turn left opposite the White Heart public house into Chapple Road, continue for 1.3 miles and the entrance will be found on the left.
