Getting your music out to as many key music industry execs and influential decision makers is a crucial part of building your career and relationships! I want to encourage you to read the articles in this resource to help guide you with how and what to submit, and some tips and tricks before each section. As with everything, do your own research online as well and see what other artists are doing, and what other successful people in the industry recommend since there are always multiple ways to go about creating a career that you love and getting your music out to the world. I want to wish all of you good luck and I hope that you’re able to create some great connections through this book! Best wishes! Your Musical Friend, Kristine Mirelle WATCH THESE!! WARNING: DON’T SKIP THIS STEP BEFORE submitting your material or contacting these contacts in this book, in order for you to get results, you must make sure you are sending the right material to increase your chances of getting heard and considered! Imagine if you missed out on a huge opportunity simply because you sent them a song as an attachment instead of a Soundcloud link? These are simple things that could ruin your chances of getting heard!! I put together some very important step by step processes as well as some educational videos so that doesn’t happen and so that you can get the best results possible J Good luck everyone!! “Find something you love and go for it with all your heart. No excuses, no plan B. Never settle for anything less than you know you can do. It will be hard, but I promise it will be worth it.” ― Charlotte Eriksson A&R’s WELCOME Kristine here. Just wanted to welcome you to the Record Label “A&R’s” section of my mega resource “Get Discovered”. You’ll find more than 250 A&R’s in this section along with email addresses, social media accounts, and any available contact information for each of them! There is a multitude of A&R’s who accept many genres or so I would recommend clicking on the section that says “All/Various” in the Table of Contents and submitting there FIRST. I also divided the sections into A&R’s who only accept one genre so you can click on those specifically. Check out the articles below for some other quick tips on how to submit, Do’s and Dont’s, and other useful notes! Wishing all the best to you and good luck! Your Musical Friend, Kristine Mirelle J “Success in the music industry isn’t something that you wait for or hope for. It is something that you create, day after day.” ― Simon S. Tam, Music Business Hacks Recommendations (Submitting to A&R’s) DO’s --Do send an EPK if you have one. (See the next article after this one for recommendations on where you can create and host one) If you don’t have one, its recommended that you CREATE ONE. You’ll look more professional and be able to organize your content creatively and efficiently! --Do consider sending a “One-Sheet.” This isn’t NECESSARY but it does create a nice presentation for you as an artist. (I Cover all of these in the training below) To access that training Click here>>>>>>http://www.KristineMirelle.net/GoViralTraining --Do make a short introduction of who you are in your email, what kind of music you make, and a short paragraph about you and what makes you different! *****DO send QUALITY content because at the end of the day, you could submit to every single email here, but if you don’t have quality content, and don’t send the right type of material, you won’t gather an interest. Ultimately, it’s up to the labels whether they enjoy what they hear and want to consider working with you or not. DONT’s ****DON”T ever send attachments on emails. Don’t attach your songs or music videos to any emails you send out. They may even have an email filter that will block your email so they don’t receive it at all, or if they see that you sent attachment, they’ll know you haven’t done your research on proper submission etiquette. Instead, make sure to send your content in links. For example: Send a soundcloud link if you are submitting a song. Send a youtube link if you are submitting a music video. Send a dropbox link if you are submitting a one-sheet or other information that they can download if they wish to. And don’t worry, all of these sites (Soundcloud, youtube etc) have options for you to put your video, song, unlisted so until you’re ready to release them, only those have the direct link can hear or view them. ****DON’T send them a message like “I’M THE NEXT BIG THING” or “I’M THE HOTTEST RAPPER IN THE WORLD” or “SIGN ME SO WE CAN MAKE SOME MONEY TOGETHER”. It doesn’t leave a unique impression. Instead, focus on making yourself stand out. I was reading a short bio the other day from a band that I loved! In the bio they said, “We may look like a bunch of average guys who would fix your computer or plumbing, but don’t let that fool you!” It was just a fun little way to grab attention and made them stand out from all of the other entries. Keep in mind, labels get HUNDREDS of entries so put your best foot forward J *****DON’T get discouraged if you only hear back from a fraction of them. They can’t write back everyone simply because they don’t have the time. If you only get a tiny percentage of them to write you back, you are actually doing well!! All you need is ONE great music industry connect to make a huge impact in your life so focus on that J If you are getting no responses at all, I recommend re-evaluating the content you are sending them. Get some other opinions on how you can make your EPK better, create quality music, or make yourself stand out as an artist! Good luck to you! -Kristine Mirelle HOST AND CREATE YOUR EPK I have used many different webhosting platforms as well as EPK creators over the years and wanted to list a few that I’ve used and recommend! Reverbnation Price: Free and up to $19.95 a month Description: I have been a user of reverbnation for a very long time. They have a very organized simple template for creating your EPK that is consistent with every other artist’s template as well. It’s a very clean design and although every artist’s profile is organized the same, it leaves the guessing work out of the design. Also, whoever views your EPK will love the organization and simplicity of it so they can easily see and access information about you and check out your music, videos etc. On top of this, reverbnation also posts awesome gigs, concert opportunities, TV licensing opportunities as well that you can submit to if you’d like!
