All the boxes which mention "weather not ideal for Gondogoro pass" mean: 1. The holiday itinerary includes crossing the Gondogoro La pass which makes the trek a circuit/circular trek ending in another valley (Hushe). 2. These dates do not always provide good weather windows for crossing the Gondogoro La pass based on our past experience. 3. Our High Altitude Guide will try to make the crossing with all the participants but incase the weather (clouds/rain/snow etc) take over the pass, all participants will return via same route i.e. Baltoro Glacier. 4. Incase of return via same route, everything else in the itinerary will still be covered except "Gondogoro La Pass" 5. Our guide receives hourly weather forecasts via satellite phone for Gondogoro La pass upon reaching Concordia from K2 base camp. What does mean? 1. These dates normally offer good weather windows for the holiday in terms of clouds, rain, snow etc however weather in Karakoram range is very unpredictable. What is our opinion? Previously good weather windows would start from mid june but not any more. Since three years, it is not until July when snow melts at Goro II and Concordia making it very difficult in june for trekkers and most importantly porters to walk the trail causing a lot of problems for many trekking and mountaineering groups. This year (2019), upon reaching concordia (first view of K2), many trekking groups were met by the clouds covering K2 but again not all trekking groups. Secondly the first crossing of Gondogoro La in 2019 was only made by a 2 member group on 29th June followed by several other groups until the end of August. The snow on the trail and ridge/slope leading to Gondogoro La made it extremely difficult to walk before July. If you are looking to minimize the risks of massive cloud formations covering magnificent views, we recommend choosing a departure anytime between 1st July and 10th August in 2020. None of our 13 trekking groups to Gondogoro La between this period were unlucky in 2019. .
