The Express Tribune, September 12th, 2013. Vohra was presiding over a meeting to review dengue arrangements at the hospital. The meeting was attended by Dr Ghayasun Nabi Tayyab, Dr Ihtishamud Din, Medical Superintendent Amjad Shahzad, the nursing superintendent, the blood bank in-charge and other doctors. Vohra said no patient with dengue fever symptoms had been brought to LGH, but the hospital was equipped to handle an outbreak. He said the hospital was being sprayed with insecticide regularly to prevent dengue mosquito breeding. Vohra directed the doctors to ensure presence of subordinate staff during all three shifts and to send reports about latecomers to the medical superintendent. He also directed the nurses to keep patients’ charts updated. Seven more dengue LAHORE: Seven more dengue patients were confirmed in Lahore’s Mayo hospital on patients confirmed in Wednesday, increasing the dengue affected people to 105 in the city. The News, September 14, 2013 The Health Department’s spokesperson said Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) was a viral disease which was transmitted by “ticks” found on animals. He said that, as a preventive measure, the Health Department had issued warning to doctors, nurses, paramedical staff as well as common citizens to take precautionary measures against this disease and provide timely treatment to the patients at hospitals. The spokesman said the EDOs Health of all districts had been directed to contact officers of Livestock and Dairy Development Department for ensuring spray in the cattle markets, slaughter houses, dairy, Gawala colonies, sacrificial animals’ sale yards and other animal gathering places. The spokesman advised the people to ensure examination of diseased animals from veterinary doctor so that transmission of CCHF to human beings could be prevented. He advised doctors that, in case of arrival of any CCHF patient in hospital, case management guideline should be followed in the treatment Dengue on the rise in LAHORE:Five more were tested positive for dengue at Mayo Hospital on Monday, taking the number of confirmed cases in the province to 134. Two patients from different parts of Punjab Lahore, two from Shikhupura and one from Okara were brought to Mayo Hospital where they were tested positive for dengue.
