February 1, 2021 Re: Athletics & Activities Update Rocket Community, Over the past few days, different regions in the state of Illinois continue to move through the “tiers” to become less restrictive in their mitigation processes for offering athletic events. As of Tuesday, January 26th, Region 8 (Kane & DuPage Region) was moved from Tier 2 mitigations to Tier 1. The IHSA Board of Directors met for a special board meeting on January 27, 2021, where the Board provided an updated sports schedule and other guidance for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year. The IHSA Board approved the following sports schedule for the remainder of the school year: IDPH Practices Practice Dates Sport State Series End Date Risk Start Before Games March Boys/Girls Basketball Higher ASAP 7 dates No State Series 13 March Boys Swimming & Diving Lower ASAP 7 dates No State Series 13 Virtual (2/27 & March Dance Lower ASAP 7 dates 3/6) 13 Virtual (3/6 & March Cheerleading Lower ASAP 7 dates 3/12) 13 March Girls Gymnastics-IND Lower ASAP 7 dates No State Series 13 Boys Soccer Moderate March 1 7 dates No State Series April 17 1st Game March Football Higher March 3 19 No State Series April 24 Girls Volleyball Moderate March 8 7 dates No State Series April 24 Boys Gymnastics-IND Lower March 15 7 dates TBD May 22 Baseball Lower April 5 7 dates TBD June 19 Girls Soccer Moderate April 5 7 dates TBD June 19 Softball Lower April 5 7 dates TBD June 19 Boys Tennis-IND Lower April 5 7 dates TBD June 19 Boys/Girls Track & Field Lower April 5 7 dates TBD June 19 Wrestling Higher April 19 7 dates No State Series June 12 Central Community Unit School District 301 | 275 South St. PO Box 396 | Burlington, IL 60109 | p. 847-464-6005 | f. 847-464-6021 Cheer and Dance have already begun their practices, and Boys and Girls Basketball will begin January 29th. As I get all the in-season sports established, contact days and weight room schedules for all the non in-season approved contact days will be put in place. The goal is to have the weight room open by Thursday, February 4th. Communication for this will come from head coaches and be posted on 8to18 in order to sign up for lifting sessions. Lastly, the IHSA Contact days are approved and for all sports that are not in-season. Once those schedules are set each program's head coach will communicate the dates and times. I met with the Fox Valley Conference on January 29th to set all the conference schedules and to set all other policies needed for successful conference game play. All policies established will be communicated to each sport that it pertains to. I am also in the process of developing a plan to live stream games that we can not have spectators attend. As I get that finalized information it will be found on the 8to18 site for access. Please make sure that your athlete is registered on 8to18, and that you have a current physical on file before you can officially start practicing. Remember that all students will still be required to depart each school at the completion of their school day and can then return for practice at 3:15 pm at each respective practice location. The doors for check-in will be communicated by each head coach along with all protocols needed to attend in person. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to the athletic office via: Phone: 847-464-6038 Email: Kylie Gard at [email protected] for all registration questions Email: Steve Diversey at [email protected] for all others Thank You, Steve Diversey Athletic & Activities Director Central Community Unit School District 301 | 275 South St. PO Box 396 | Burlington, IL 60109 | p. 847-464-6005 | f. 847-464-6021 .
