Christa Sadler Itinerary DAY 1 ARRIVE IN MOAB Arrive in Moab, Utah's lively adventure hub, and enjoy the afternoon of exploring this vibrant little downtown. You'll then meet your MT Sobek guide for a fun family-oriented activity in the early afternoon so don't forget your sunhat! This afternoon orientation will help you get to know your fellow family travelers and will answer any questions you have about the trip. We'll enjoy dinner together before an early night before the next big day! Meals: (D) DAY 2 THE FAMILY RIVER ADVENTURE BEGINS! We'll rise for a short drive to the Colorado River put-in, just downstream of Moab. Meet the rest of your guides by the river and receive a safety briefing before the journey begins. There will be many options for family activities throughout the day! You will stop to explore Native American ruins and learn about the flora and fauna of this desert canyon country. Upon arrival at camp, play fun river games like horseshoes and bocce ball will be available - as well as scavenger hunts with surprises for the kids! After an early dinner, watch the sunset from your riverside tent and listen to the sound of the river. Activity: 6 hours/22 miles rafting & 1hr/0.5-mile hike Meals: (B) / (L) /(D) DAY 3 SCENIC LOOP HIKE & SWIM AT THE CONFLUENCE After breakfast, continue downriver past Lathrop and Buck Canyons, as you get deeper into Canyonlands National Park. There'll be a short, steep 1-mile hike with majestic vistas - or stay with the rafts and continue downriver to meet the group. This afternoon, try stand-up paddle boarding or grab inflatable kayaks while swimming in the warm waters of the Colorado River. Follow tradition and go swimming where the confluence of the Green and the Colorado Rivers, an iconic spot where two great rivers meet before starting the journey into Cataract Canyon. Hear your family's laughter echoing off the canyon walls as you scout the rapids and feel the rush of riding over big waves in the warm waters of the Colorado River. You'll have options for riding in a paddleboat or oar boat with the family together — as the experienced guides navigate down this exciting white water. Once at camp in the afternoon, revel in the thrilling day on the river. This evening will be a special family feast to celebrate the incredible adventure. Activity: 6 hours/19 miles rafting Class II-III rapids (Class IV in May only) Meals: (B) / (L) /(D) DAY 5 SCENIC FLOAT CLOSER TO GRAND CANYON & FLIGHT TO MOAB Awake for your last day on the river, and enjoy the usual morning hot coco, coffee and breakfast riverside before jetting down the last 15 miles on the river through one of the most spectacular canyon stretches. The towering walls rise higher as you get deeper in the canyon and approach Lake Powell, just upstream of the Grand Canyon. At the take-out, say goodbye to the Colorado River and transfer to the Hite Airstrip, where a charter flight whisks you up and over Canyonlands National Park, retracing the river you just rafted!
