Descriptions of the Daily Stages

Descriptions of the daily stages Day 1 Meiringen – Meiringen Facts: 32.5 km, 1650 metres altitude, 1650 metres depth The tour starts in Meiringen with a half-day tour, the morning is available for your arrival. Depending on your mood and time, you can tackle the initial ascent of 1100 m with an e-bike over side and forest roads or you can take the mountain railway up to the Mägisalp. From the Mägisalp you pedal 300 metres uphill on trails and gravel paths. Perfectly warmed up, the first single trail follows down to the cheese dairy. It's best to take this turn with you for the ascent to the Gibel. At the summit cross, the next descent starts from 2,000 metres above sea level to Meiringen (600 metres above sea level). Before you start, enjoy the 360° view over the snow-covered mountains, Lake Brienz and the Haslital. In Meiringen you will find your hotel and rest for tomorrow's extensive stage. Day 2 Meiringen – Grindelwald Facts: 41 km, 1900 m altitude, 2200 m depth. Variant with Postbus to Rosenlaui: 28 km, 1200 metres altitude, 1500 metres depth. The day starts with a long ascent over alpine roads. You will have mastered around 1300 metres in altitude by the time you reach Wandelalp. The high moor landscape is a real highlight for nature lovers. The descent into the Reichenbach Valley is a pleasure and only a bit more challenging in places. Arriving on the road to Grosse Scheidegg, we now recommend to take the post bus to save battery power and power for the last meters of altitude and trails of the day on the spectacular trip to Grosse Scheidegg. If you have enough power for an additional 760hm on 10 kilometers, you can of course also pedal to the Grosse Scheidegg. From Grosse Scheidegg the bike path leads via First to Bachalpsee, the most photographed mountain lake in the Alps. After the photo stop, you have to concentrate for the descent on fantastic and very varied trails all the way to Grindelwald. The 1,100 metres of depth over alpine hiking trails, root stretches and trails are the crowning finale of the day. For those who think that the 1900 metres of altitude difference is too much for one day's stage or would like to take it easier, take the Postbus directly from Meiringen to Grindelwald in the morning and get off in Rosenlaui. There a short walk to the legendary glacier gorge is worthwhile before you climb the further 630 m with your bike to the Grosse Scheidegg. Continue as described above via First and the beautiful Bachalpsee trail. Day 3 Grindelwald – Mürren Facts: easier tour (3aa and 3ba) 29 km, 1560 m altitude, 1650 m depth, longer and more difficult tour (3ab and 3bb): 39 km, 2015 m altitude, 2110 m depth Today's tour also starts with a longer ascent, you can either drive the 1100 meters of altitude directly to Kleine Scheidegg (GPX-Track 3aa) or take the detour via Männlichen (GPX-Track 3ab). This means an additional 400 vertical meters and 7 kilometers. The detour is worth it because of the sensational panorama of Männlichen and the subsequent flowing romantic trail, which means a lot of fun. On the Kleine Scheidegg, the hub to the Jungfraujoch, we turn away from the masses and ride with an impressive view of the Eiger Mönch and Jungfrau towards the Lauberhorn race track, world-famous for the legendary ski race in winter. Parts of it can also be ridden by bike. You ride over single trails past the Hundsschopf to Wengenalp. Two variants are available for the continuation to Lauterbrunnen. The technically easy variant (3ba) leads over forest paths and meadow trails, the difficult one (3bb) over partly technically very demanding trails with hairpin bends, roots and steps. Beware, especially when it's wet the wooden beams lying across are treacherously slippery. In Lauterbrunnen, the large gondola lift is available for overcoming the next 700 metres in altitude. If you haven't had enough challenging descents for today, you can let off steam on the demanding freeride route to Lauterbrunnen and then take the cable car again. Otherwise you roll comfortably, the imposing panorama of the famous triumvirate Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau always in view, to Mürren. Day 4 Mürren – Interlaken Facts: 35 km, 920 meters altitude, 2000 depth gauges From Mürren the day starts with an ascent to Schiltalp, a fun trail takes you to Suppenalp, where you have to climb a few metres to the Mountain View Trail. The fantastic views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau have been there the whole time to enjoy, now the driving fun is added! There are also a few technically challenging passages to overcome, at a few abandoned places it is strongly recommended to push the bike. After crossing the Sousbach, the trail climbs up again before reaching Lauterbrunnen via field and meadow trails and later via the asphalt road. Now it goes comfortably along the Lütschine to Interlaken. You can either take the train to Meiringen or book an overnight stay and take the stage Interlaken - Meiringen under the tunnels the next day. Day 5 Interlaken – Meiringen Facts: 32 - 43 km, 600-1920 vertical meters, 580-1890 depth meters There are two options for the last stage. The chilly tour leads along the northern shore of Lake Brienz. On the signaled 32km bike route, however, there are still 600 metres of altitude difference, the majority of the tour leads along forest roads. On the more difficult tour there are 42 km and almost 2000 metres of difference in altitude to overcome, whereby after the first longer descent you can also take a shortcut and roll comfortably along the Aare to Meiringen. Crunchy ascents are compensated with driving fun on the descents, mostly on Wiesentrails.
