We collected 2,855 pounds of food and $595 in cash which to- taled 4,200 lbs. which converts to 4,000 meals. All food and money were donated to the Southeast Texas Food Bank. This year we were sta- tioned at 3 Market Basket locations. Again, GiGi’s cupcakes made a spe- cial cupcake for National 4-H Week and had an in-store 4-H trivia for cus- tomers. Fishing Project—The next project meeting will be on November 11th at the Extension of- fice, 6:30 p.m. Photography project—The next photography project meeting will be held on November 17th at the Extension office, 6:00 p.m. Aerospace/Rockets—The Aerospace meeting will be held as follows: Oct. 30th & Nov. 6th at the Extension office; Nov. 13th & 20th at the Kitchen’s residence. The project leader will give you the address & directions. Dog project—The next dog project meeting will be on October 30th, 6:30 p.m. at the Extension office. Page 4 Jefferson County 4-H News Major Show & Heifer Validations Reminder If you are planning to show in any of the major livestock shows, Houston, San Antonio, Austin or Fort Worth, etc. you will need to turn in entry fees and all necessary paperwork by the following dates: Fort Worth—Nov. 10th; All other majors—Nov. 20th. Please call the Extension office for the appropriate pa- perwork or visit the livestock show’s website to download the forms. Remember that you will need to have your Quality Counts verification number for your entries. Heifer Validation—All heifers will need to be validated in order to show in any of the majors. Heifer Vali- dation for 4-H & FFA will be held on November 10th, 4-6 p.m. at the Hamshire-Fannett Ag Barn. The cost is $10 per heifer. You will need to bring original papers with ownership in the 4-Her’s name. Also, we will need the original papers already scanned, in color, on a “jump” drive or cd for us to upload the information or we will scan it at the validation site.
