Dr. Badia graduated from Cornell University and completed his medical degree at NYU. He served as the worldwide president of ISSPORTH and co-founded the globally recognized Miami Anatomical Research and Training Center (M.A.R.C.) and The Surgery Center at Doral, an elite state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center. In 2014, his frustration with the health care system sparked the idea for the creation of specialized orthopedic urgent care centers to efficiently assess and treat a range of orthopedic and sports injuries. To that end, he founded OrthoNOW®, the only network of franchised orthopedic urgent care centers in the country with 42 centers slated to open coast to coast in the next five years. , He has revolutionized the delivery of healthcare to patients resulting in better outcomes, less wait times and decreased cost of care. Dr. Badia, comes from a family of physicians and is a descendant of the founder of the Cuban Academy of Sciences, who was motivated to become a surgeon to help care for people like his grandmother who suffered chronic pain from advanced arthritis with crippling deformities. Dr. Badia is invested in making a difference. While often in the limelight and a role model for physicians and students around the world, what’s most important to him lies right in his own backyard and that is his patients, his community and his family including proud parents Maria and Cristobal, sister Susana and his two children, Alessia and Alessandro. 3 Awards & Recognitions • 50+ Innovation Leaders" by MedCity News, 2017 • Entrepreneur-Summit At A Glance, American Dreamer, 2017 • South Florida Business Journal Top 100 Power Leaders in Healthcare, 2017 • Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Healthcare Hero; Healthcare Professional Finalist, 2017 • South Florida Business Journal Top 100 Power Leaders in Healthcare, 2016 • Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Healthcare Hero; Healthcare Professional Finalist, 2016 • Doral Business Council Legacy Award, given to leaders for significant impact on Doral community, 2015 • In Touch Today’s Work Comp Professionals Legacy Award, 2015 • Diversity MBA Magazine Top 100 under 50 Diverse Executive Leaders, 2014 • OrthoNOW named “Top Ten Franchise Opportunity” in healthcare in Entrepreneur magazine, 2014 • South Florida Business Journal Top 100 Power Leaders in Healthcare, 2014 • Honored Professor status, 14th annual Philadelphia Hand Course • Named to 100 Latinos Miami: annual award of most influential Latinos in the Miami community • Named to 45 top US hand surgeons in Becker’s Orthopedic & Spine Review • Miami “Movers and Shakers” of business community, 2009 • Voluntary Clinical Faculty, FIU School of Medicine, Dept. of Surgery • Honorary Faculty, annual Philadelphia Hand Courses, Philadelphia, 2008, 2010 • Honorary full member of orthopedic surgery dept.
