Never a test and refusal to ask USGS to come in and tell us the truth. How many dollars does it take to ignore the health of the future generations. I have spent years trying to bring science into the schools and the public but was blocked at every turn. People talk and know the true history and science will tell the rest. I am done asking you all to protect the water. So I will continue my search for the truth of what you have done to the next generation. Not one drop more should be taken from the Siletz River nor should one more gram of toxic waste should be added to the 11 million gallons a day pouring into the Ocean and River as their accidental spill history has proven. Not till we know the truth of what has already been done. I am a Lincoln County resident who's only representation has been this failing commission of Lincoln County. 30 years of burying their heads in the sand with grant opportunities keeping us uninformed. I will send additional letters for the records. Cynthia M. This is a request for any chemical or heavy metal water testing especially prior to the release of this toxic mess into the Siletz Watershed. I would also request any documentation of funding for this storage concept. ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: Kenney Creig <[email protected]> To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, October 1, 2019, 11:10:28 PM PDT Subject: Fw: Arsenic found in wells and water concerns ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: Kenney Creig <[email protected]> To: Amy Chapman <[email protected]>; Douglas Hunt <[email protected]>; Commissioner Claire Hall <[email protected]>; Commissioner Kaety Jacobson <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, October 1, 2019, 8:39:58 PM PDT Subject: Arsenic found in wells and water concerns Amy Chapman Lincoln County Health Dept, and to all who are of concern.' My name is Cynthia M. George 244 Pioneer Trail Toledo Or 97391 I have begged and pleaded for over 15 years to learn the truth about the health of the watershed in Lincoln County. I am a life long resident and sport fisher women my entire life.I am a mother and Grandmother. I have also experience what happens to a family exposed to a contaminated well, which happened to our family I believe in 2004. In this 15 years there have been many leaks into the wetlands and rivers in Toledo and Lincoln County. I have written and called numerous occasions over the last 15 years with valid concerns yet not one water test has been done to the surrounding wells over the last 15 years of leaks. Add to that the failure to follow through with the required data. Director's report https://www.oregon.gov/deq/.../M_DirectorsReport091318.pdf For the GP Toledo RPA, the permittee had reported ambient data for toxic and other pollutants in and near the mixing zone and at reference sites as part of a characterization study in2004 and aquatic surveys in 2010, which required a considerable level of effort for manual data entry. Ambient data was not available for several pollutants that exceeded the applicable criteria at the end-of-pipe (i.e., antimony, inorganic arsenic, thallium, and bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate). DEQ’s RPA IMD does not include guidance for addressing such situations. I once again spoke with Willy Worman GP within the last two weeks about my concerns about water quality due to the flushing of the holding ponds and he accused me of making false statements. He stated nothing has ever been found in the accumulation study done in partnership with Newport. I printed page two and handed it to him at the Siletz Watershed meeting at the Siletz Library. It simply states of the 137 chemicals tested 38 were found in sea life. How is that nothing. This report left more questions than answers as DEQ Directors report now also concludes. One which is arsenic. Newport Bio accumulation report ; Of 137 possible contaminants tested, 38 were detected in animals from one or more sampling sites. https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0?ik=69d58b84cd&view=pt&search=all&permmsgid=msg-f%3A1652576321105531591&simpl=msg-f%3A16525763211… 2/5 12/10/2019 Co.lincoln.or.us Mail - Fw: Arsenic found in wells and water concerns in Lincoln County GP While none of the measured concentrations approached levels for human health concern by seafood consumption, any chemicals with concentrations higher than published toxicity reference values (TRVs) were further investigated by comparing levels in animals collected at the mixing zone sites with those from nearby reference sites. Tissue concentrations of 21chemicals either exceeded conservative TRVsfor marine species or had no TRV for comparison.Among those 21 chemicals, 19 were trace metals and two were organic compounds (2,4’-‐ DDD and Oxychlordane).Species-‐ specificresultsfor metalsthatshowed higher concentrations in the mixing zoneof the G-‐ P outfall than at least one reference site are as follows: Why am I putting all this in writing is the fact that I attended the permit process for the GP renewal number 1. I had put into the record my request that GP be required to test the wells that they KNOW may have been harmed by these leaks. They have gathered the well owners logs and have mapped these at potential risk.2 GP is not required by law to report a problem to the owners even during the accident. This has never been acceptable and may have put families at risk. We also have a large source of contaminate into that same wetland from the Kings Salvage Junk Yard and all of this runs into the Yaquina River where GP sits. They pump 11 million gallons of toxic effluent into the ocean every day, unless they have a leak, then where did it go? If you read the discharge permit it contains tons of deadly minerals chemicals and huge bacteria load. I am also aware of the findings of arsenic in well water in the Siletz basin and have also attended meetings on the bio solid issue which effect the health of the water. It is over due to get to the truth. We have too many dying and we can no longer ignore science. If reverse osmosis can protect a family or a uv light we need to know what we are dealing with. We may be wasting time and as I have said many times, we are 20 years behind the truth no one wants to know. Another generation unprotected. With that said, I want to thank Amy Chapman of Lincoln County Health Authority, 15 years ago a scared mother with a very sick child called because she needed to have answers.Ms Chapman took a coliform test and it was positive. A little girl was suffering with 3 protozoa. You know they kill an animal in an animal to rid that child of that problem, she got worse. I am still learning about the power of this water. One of the most important thing I have learned is how little is still known about the health of the water. We have spent hundreds of thousands, maybe millions on studies and watershed councils,OSU on and on yet we get the same 4-5 tests. A high school student could record the data we have been provided over the last 20 years.Yet in those same 20 years the amount of toxins pumped, sprayed and leaked have never been measured. I see there is true interest in the global climate fight and we are having a potential huge negative impact on the acidifacation of the ocean right here in our own back yard.
