Lasting six minutes on the mat without running out of breath is harder than you think,” he said. Maloney said he is excited for state and has the goal of at least making it on the podium. He said he started wrestling in kindergarten and the best part is the relationships built team- and coach-wise. While wrestling is great, there are no easy days. “Practice is grueling,” Maloney said. Phillips said he started wrestling in seventh grade when his dad convinced him to try out for the team.
