<p> Nature Walk Reflection</p><p>Here are the basic rules for the Nature Walk: 1. You can go anywhere as long as it is on campus, outside, and surrounded by some form of nature (You will have 30 minutes to explore the campus and write down your thoughts). 2. Do not bring any form of technology other than a phone (if necessary) to tell time…that means no listening to music! 3. Stay by yourself, away from classmates, and do not converse—simply observe and write 4. Keep an open mind and write in any format that comes naturally to you (letter to Mother Nature, a poem, song lyrics, stream of consciousness, drawings, or a mix); the most important thing is that you write without self-censure</p><p>Self-Reflection In addition to your field notes and journal, write a response to the following ideas. (Minimum 4 sentences per response.)  How was this experience different from the usual encounter that you have with the bits of nature around campus? Were there more authentic details of the Natural on campus than you realized?  Reflecting on your experience, have you ever spent that much time by yourself in Nature before? What did you notice during your extended alone time? How did the setting influence your thinking? Would you do this type of thing more often if you could?  Thinking Transcendental for a moment, did you sense a greater sense of connection to nature during your observation? Why or why not? Would more time in Nature strengthen your relationship with the natural world?  Reflect on the following quotation: “In the end, we will only conserve what we love, we will love only what we understand, and we will understand only what we have been taught.” –Baba Dioum. Refer to some of your observations as you discuss your understanding of the quotation.</p>
