<p> Auto Mechanics 2 Course Syllabus Mr. Lyon: Industrial Art (Room S107) [email protected] 243-7540 ext. 1070</p><p>Course Description -This course is designed for the students that completed Auto Mechanics 1 to continue their interest in the technical aspects of the automobile and industry. Students will also continue with general maintenance and car ownership. Students will be introduced to Diagnosing and troubleshooting components, and systems in today’s vehicles. Students will be responsible for note taking and daily log of what they have performed and completed. Approximately 60% of class time is spent in discussion of reading assignments, and 40% is spent on working on vehicles or components, or systems. This is the prerequisite that has to be completed before signing up for Vocational Auto Mechanics</p><p>Critical Course Objectives – Students will learn how to:  Tire diagnostic and repair  Diagnose braking problems  Diagnose suspension problems  Diagnose engine problems  Computer diagnostic  Diagnose and repairing charging systems  Diagnose and repairing starting systems  Diagnose and repairing lighting systems  Diagnose and repairing electric window systems</p><p>Primary Resources – Students will be studying out of text books Automotive Excellence Volume 1 & 2. Students will also use the ShopKey and ALLDATA software on the classroom computers. Students will also work with training boards and various shop vehicles and tools. Students will also keep a notebook for references. </p><p>Reading Expectation – Students will be expected to read out loud at various times from the text book. There will be times where the student may need to read on their own. Students will have to work with ShopKey and ALLDATA software. Expectations –  Students will have their own notebook  Students will arrive on time with ID, and planner.  Students will raise their hands when wanting to ask a question.  Students will wear safety glasses at all times when away from the seating area.  Students will follow all Shop Safety Rules  Students will have the proper footwear on to work in the lab area.</p><p>Units of Study –  Safety  Tools  Tire  Brakes  Suspension  Engine  Computer  Charging  Starting  Electrical</p><p>Course Evaluation – Students will be evaluated by attendance, class participation, lab time, and tests. Grading system will be based off of the CHS Standard Grade Scale. Students will have test in the following Units of Study:  Safety  Tools  Tires  Brakes  Suspension  Engine  Computer Components  Charging  Starting  Electrical</p><p>Additional Information – This course will require a prerequisite of Metals I and Auto Mechanics 1. This course will be offered to grades 10, 11, 12. Students will get dirty and/or dirty in this class. Proper cleaning soap will be available to the students. The class is not responsible for clothing that may get ruined during class. Driver’s license or learners permit is greatly encouraged since students may be moving vehicles. Any students defacing School property or customers vehicles will not be tolerated.</p>
