<p> 8th Grade: Unit 11 Writing Lesson Plan Required Writing Assignment</p><p>Estimated Time To Complete: 5-7 class periods</p><p>Assignment Description: You have written about your favorite topic that was studied this year in Social Studies. Now, you will create a dramatic movie trailer for that topic. First, you will create a storyboard showing the main events. Next, you will compose a screenplay using the details that you included in your writing.</p><p>Materials: Paper/journals/notebooks and poster board</p><p>Standards: On iPlan</p><p>Objectives: Students will be able to: ● create a storyboard from the completed writing piece ● use the storyboard to compose a screenplay for a movie trailer based on your writing piece ● Apply appropriate dialogue techniques ● Perform their dramatization</p><p>Lesson Steps: 1. Review the writing piece completed. 2. Show examples of storyboards for students to study. 3. Partner students with same Social Studies topics to work together on creating the dramatization. 4. Have students create and share their storyboards. 5. Show examples of screenplays/plays for students to study. 6. Working in small groups - have the students use the completed storyboards, have students write their own screenplay for their movie trailer. 7. Have students present their screenplay using dramatization, PowerPoint (narrated), Prezi Software, or any other presentation style that they choose.</p><p>Required Writing Assignment: 1. Students will write a screenplay with details from their favorite writing piece/storyboard.</p><p>If technology is available, students may upload their writing into a web-based analysis program called SAS</p>
