<p> POLICY MANUAL ABBOTSFORD No. 200-4-04 Page 1 of 2</p><p>CHAPTER: COUNCIL</p><p>SECTION: COMMITTEES</p><p>SUBJECT: SUMAS PRAIRIE DYKING, DRAINAGE AND IRRIGATION COMMITTEE</p><p>APPROVED BY: COUNCIL</p><p>EFFECTIVE DATE: 1995 01 01 REVISION DATE: 1997 07 10</p><p>PURPOSE:</p><p>To ensure the dyking, drainage and irrigation needs of the Sumas Prairie District are addressed; and to regulate the meetings and conduct of the Sumas Prairie Dyking, Drainage and Irrigation Committee meetings.</p><p>AUTHORITY:</p><p>Municipal Act, Council Procedure By-law No. 6-95, as amended</p><p>POLICY:</p><p>1. The Mayor, at the Inaugural meeting, will appoint two Councillors to the Committee.</p><p>2. Regular committee meetings are held every two months at the call of the Mayor who is Chairman. The Annual General Meeting is held in March of each year.</p><p>3. Three members are elected to the committee from the Sumas Prairie District at the Annual General Meeting.</p><p>4. Committee members are responsible to inspect the dyking and drainage area each month, and report back to the Committee at each regular meeting. The committee will provide advice and guidance to Council on the operation and maintenance of waterways, dykes, drains and works relative to drainage and irrigation on Sumas Prairie.
