<p> Caledonia Post #305 American Legion Scholarship Sponsored by the Sons of the American Legion</p><p>Scope and Purpose</p><p>The Sons of the American Legion Post #305 have established a scholarship in the amount of $500.00 to be given annually to a graduate of Caledonia High School for the purpose of furthering his/her education.</p><p>Guidelines</p><p>A. Applicants must meet the following criteria:</p><p>1. Patriotism - The student must show knowledge of the history of the flag, the proper ways of displaying it, and the proper respect for it.</p><p>2. Citizenship - The student must display by his/her involvement in activities, either within the school system or outside of it, the working knowledge of the qualities of a good citizen.</p><p>3. Discipline - The student must in all his/her activities show respect for rules and obedience to them.</p><p>4. Leadership - The student must have displayed the qualities of leadership in school athletics or church activities.</p><p>5. Scholastics - The student must have attained a 3.00 GPA by the end of the 1st semester of his/her senior year.</p><p>Other Considerations</p><p>A. This award shall not be based on sex, race, religion or cultural background.</p><p>B. Student should be highly motivated and have a strong desire to further his/her education.</p><p>C. The relationship to a Legion member or Veteran is not required, but will be deliberated.</p><p>D. Financial need will be a consideration. File an application with the Caledonia High School Student Services Office by MONDAY, APRIL 14, 2008. Applications can be obtained at the Student Services Office.</p><p>B. Applications will be screened by a high school staff committee.</p><p>C. A Sons of the American Legion Selection Committee will notify finalists and interview candidates in person.</p>
