<p> The Los Angeles Writing Project Presents Science Summer Camp 2015</p><p> for students entering Grades 1-12</p><p>Held at Cal State LA June 29, 2015 – July 16, 2015 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.</p><p>Please note that the first session begins Monday, June 29, 2015. Priority Registration Fee: $350 Late Registration Fee and Based on Availability: $375 </p><p>The priority registration deadline is Saturday, May 30, 2015. After the priority deadline has passed, the late registration fee will be $375 and based on class availability. We cannot accept registrations without payments. Through participation in many activities that fuse Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM), students will investigate how scientific knowledge is created; how we know what we know; and how creativity in the arts can inform creativity in STEAM. Science is made richer by differences among scientists. Our diverse students will collaboratively engage in the integration of Steam through inquiry and investigation; and will develop their critical faculty of writing to discover their voices in sci- ence.</p><p>Secondary Science Camp (Grades 8-12) 3-D printing engages all Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) disciplines, opening a vast new world of possibilities limited only by the imagination. Students in the Secondary STEAM camp will assemble and use a 3-D printer while investigating how it works and inquiring into ways 3_D printing can the many ways 3-D printing can be applied to solve problems as diverse as health, engi- neering and the environment. Moreover, students will investigate the creative and artistic applications of 3-D printing. There will be moments of purposeful reflections as well as opportunities for students to present and share their work in progress in order to find new inspiration and an audience for their ideas. </p><p>Middle Grade Science Camp: (Grades 5-7) Students will engage in the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) through inquiry and investigation. This course will incorporate many hands on activities to develop cognitive strategies necessary to develop future leaders and learners in the fields of STEAM. In addi- tion, the course will offer students the ability to apply the arts along with creative and observational writing opportunities based on science and technology. </p>
