<p> Gamble Rogers Middle School</p><p>Course Title : Exploring Two-Dimensional Art</p><p>Teacher : Mrs. Kathy James</p><p>Email: [email protected]</p><p>Materials needed:</p><p>* sketchbook--spiral bound (size-8 x 10 or 8 ½ x 11) OR Copy paper in a folder with brads *Folder with brads and pockets with loose leaf notebook paper inside (data folder) *Pencils and a block eraser *Fine point black marker (felt tip or rollerball) *$5.00 donation for art supplies-make payable to PTO with “Art supplies” in the memo area</p><p>Course Description: This semester course is an introduction to art and will include studio projects, art history, art criticism, critical thinking and reflection, the elements and principles of design, and various skills, techniques and processes. Students will explore a variety of media such as drawing, painting, collage, ceramics, sculpture, and mixed media. The curriculum will follow the Florida State and National Standards for Visual Art.</p><p>Evaluation: Students will earn a grade of A, B, C, D, F. Determination of grade will be: Assessments: 50% (Big Projects and tests) Classwork: 25% Quiz: 20% Homework: 5%</p><p>Class requirements and procedures: Students are required to bring their sketchbook, pencil and eraser to class daily. Students will receive a grade for their daily sketchbook. Students will also receive a grade for maintaining their art folder which includes notes, handouts, and art rubrics/reflections. Art folders will be housed in the art room. I’m looking forward to a creative and educational class!  Art Procedures</p><p>1. What should you do when you come in the art room?</p><p>2. What should you do if you are absent?</p><p>3. What if you need to use the bathroom?</p><p>4. When should you sharpen your pencil? What if the teacher is talking?</p><p>5. What is the get quiet and listen signal?</p><p>6. How do I put my name on my papers/artwork?</p><p>7. What should do if I finish work early?</p><p>8. Where do I store my artwork?</p><p>9. Where do I put my artwork when it is done and needs to be graded?</p><p>10. How am I dismissed?</p><p>11. How do we clean up in the art room? 12. What do I do if there is a fire drill?</p><p>13. What if there is a substitute teacher?</p><p>14. What are my responsibilities as an art student?</p>
