<p> UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN IOWA DIVISION OF ATHLETIC TRAINING School of HPELS Graduate Assistant Position Announcement</p><p>The University of Northern Iowa has a variety of athletic training graduate assistantships for graduate students who are certified athletic trainers and eligible for an Iowa Athletic Training License. These experiences are designed to provide athletic training graduate students the opportunity to develop decision making and clinical skills under the tutelage of staff and faculty. Full-time and half-time assistantships are available in various settings including NCAA Division I collegiate, high school, clinic, youth soccer, and junior hockey. </p><p>Position Title: Graduate Athletic Training Assistant</p><p>Reports to: Athletic training graduate program director and direct supervisor of service, depending on setting and location (on- or off-campus). </p><p>Terms of Employment:  For the fall semester: 20 (or 10) hours per week, beginning August 24, 2015 and ending December 18, 2015. Does not include the week of Thanksgiving Break (November 23- 27, 2015).</p><p> For the spring semester: 20 (or 10) hours per week, beginning January 11, 2016 and ending May 6, 2016. Does not include the week of Spring Break (March 14-18, 2016).</p><p>Compensation:  Full assistantship salary is $4,920 per semester. (Half assistantships may be awarded as well).  Graduate Assistants may qualify for in-state tuition and fees.  Graduate Assistants receive University holidays and do not work during Thanksgiving Break, Spring Break, or the interims between semesters.  *Tuition scholarships are separate from the assistantships and are therefore applied for and awarded separately.  For more information on the Graduate Assistantship System and procedures: http://www.grad.uni.edu/assistantships/</p><p>Position Description:  Potential athletic training positions consist of on campus opportunities with NCAA Division I athletic teams and local secondary schools and youth sport associations.  Specific duties fall within the scope of athletic training practice and vary depending on the specific assignment.  Preceptor duties within UNI’s Entry-level Athletic Training Education Program may also exist for certain positions. </p><p>Qualifications-  Must be BOC Certified and eligible for an Iowa athletic training license prior to the start date (Preference will be given to applicants who are already BOC certified and are therefore eligible for an Iowa license)  Must be a full-time, degree-seeking student in a UNI graduate program.  Must be accepted into the graduate Athletic Training Education program.  Must be enrolled in at least 9 graduate-level credit hours.  Maintain a GPA of at least 3.00. First semester graduate students must have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.00.
