Transitioning Clover Kids Into The Community Club Program

TRANSITIONING CLOVER KIDS INTO THE COMMUNITY CLUB PROGRAM

Clover Kid Leaders have an outstanding impact on their group members and we want to keep that impact going by helping the Clover Kids transition into the Community Club 4-H program. Here are some ideas that might help:

 Have your Clover Kid Club visit a community club in the area.  Join a community club on their project tour or plan a special summer outing with them. This would give your members a chance to interact in a fun, informal way with the older 4-H’ers.  Co-sponsor a special "4-H Clover Kid Graduation Ceremony" with the local community club that your members could join in the fall.  Set up Clover Kids with an older 4-H member to be his/her Clover-Buddy. These buddies could help Clover Kids get to know others in the community club during the excitement of the fair.  Setting up a Clover-Buddy system now with a community club, will also help “Clover-buddies” mentor the new members during their first year of community club.  Ask the local Extension Office to add your Clover Kids graduates to the 4-H Community Club Newsletter mailing list now so that they will receive the first newsletter of the 4-H year and will become familiar with the opportunities available to them.  Take your Clover Kid group to the fair and show them the large variety of things they can explore when they join a community club.  Ask community club members (the Youth Council would be a great place to get volunteers!) to help out with your club meetings.  Have a 4-H Clover visible at every meeting so the Clover Kids “get” that they are 4-H members now.  Wear 4-H T-shirts for the same reason.  Celebrate National 4-H Week in October  Take part in any 4-H events you can during the fair.  Have community club members be co-leaders for a clover kid group  Have Club members give tours to clover Kids during the fair  Let Clover Kids bring non-judged items to display at the fair and give them participation ribbons.
