<p> Commercial Farming – Dairy</p><p> Significant part of Von Thunen’s theory on proximity to CBDs  Most people didn’t drink milk before technology allowed it to be stored  The farther away from the CBD the dairy farm, the more likely the product is used for something other than milk (cheese, evaporated milk, etc.)  Fresh milk is a luxury in most parts of the world  The process is labor intensive, requires large areas for grazing, crops for feeding, and heavy processing costs  Chemical processes and growth hormones are now used to improve the milk production of cows  Mad Cow disease and other side effects to genetically altering cows have led to milk scares and increased susceptibility to disease</p><p>Found in: East and Midwest U.S., India, Western and Central Europe, Eastern Australia, and New Zealand</p><p>Dairy farm along the East Coast of the U.S. Mechanized milking in United States</p><p>Dairy cars used to transport milk before refrigerated trucks (filled with ice) </p>
