Connecting Your Computer, Document Camera, and Projector

Connecting Your Computer, Document Camera, and Projector

Connecting Your Computer, Document Camera, and Projector:

1. If you are using a desktop computer, you will start with a splitter (if you have a laptop, skip this step): Connect the Splitter’s single end to the back of your computer where your monitor was plugged in.

2. Connect your monitor’s VGA cable to one of the splitters ends .

3. Connect another VGA cable to the other splitter end and then to your document camera at the place that says “VGA IN”. If you’re connecting a laptop, your VGA cable will go directly from the VGA port on your laptop to the “VGA IN” on your doc cam.

4. Connect the VGA cable that is coming down from the LCD projector to the place on the back of your document camera that says “VGA OUT”

5. Connect your power cord and plug-in to electrical outlet.

 You can now use your document camera options to switch what you’re viewing on the projector from the computer to the doc cam and back easily using the “PC” and “Camera” buttons. You can also freeze what you have displayed under the camera (ie put student work under the camera, freeze the image, and hand the paper back to the student while the image stays on the projector) using the “Freeze” button.

If you would like to be able to save images to your computer or use the Avermedia software to annotate over images, you will need to connect the USB cable from the doc cam back to your computer using this cable:

You will need to install the Avermedia software if it is not already on your computer -- please check. You can do this with the disk that came with the doc cam or download from their website. They have great tutorial videos you can watch to learn all about how you can use your doc cam! http://www.averusa.com/presentation/videos.asp
