<p>High School Instrumental/Vocal Music – Connection to Reading and Writing Anchor Standards </p><p>CCW 2 Write informative/explanatory texts to examine and convey complex ideas and information clearly and accurately through the effective selection, organization, and analysis of content</p><p>B.ML.1.3 Create an expository writing that describes the expressive elements used in a particular piece / section of music played in class*</p><p>B.ML.1.3 Create an expository writing that describes how they (individually) play the expressive elements of a piece of music* </p><p>B.MR.1.1 Describe in the form of an essay what is happening musically in an aural example of music </p><p>CCW 7 Conduct short as well as more sustained research projects based on focused question, demonstrating understand of the subject under investigation</p><p>B.CR.1.1 * Perform melodic examples of how people from at least three different time periods and cultures use music to represent ideas, celebrate important events and/or promote traditions</p><p>* Following the mentioned directions, write a written essay, class presentation and/or electronic document</p><p>B.CR.1.2 * Classify at least three given musical examples by culture, time period and geography. Compare decibel levels of various performance settings</p><p>* In a written essay, explaining the physical health issues that can arise by not taking care of the cleanliness of their instrument and by not taking care of themselves (i.e. colds, flu, oral hygiene, hand washing)</p><p>CCR 4 Interpret words and phrases as they are used in a text, including determining technical, connotative, and figurative meanings, and analyze how specific work choices shape meaning or tone</p><p>I.CR.1.5 Using internet and/or print resources, students will research various forms of prose, sonnets, ballads, haiku, etc. Students them describe some of the similarities and differences in the use of poetic language and musical language. </p>
