<p> Sedgefield Elementary Fourth Grade Summer Math Log Sedgefield students are expected to spend 24 hours or more during the summer engaged in mathematics. This time corresponds to approximately two hours of math per week during the summer months. Students may complete unused pages in their Math Investigations workbook and create math word problems/riddles for their families and friends to solve. They can engage in playing math-related board games like Monopoly. Students can count loose change or figure out the change to be received from a purchase, compute the total of your grocery bill, write imaginary checks, order the weeks’ temperatures from least to greatest, measure ingredients while helping you cook, identify patterns and shapes in their environment, etc. They can also practice their combinations or math facts using homemade or commercial flash cards or by visiting suggested internet websites.</p><p>There are countless ways for children to engage in mathematics. It is all around them. To assist you in monitoring your child’s level of involvement, a weekly log has been included. Students who successfully complete their logs will receive a special incentive when they return in the fall. </p><p>Fourth Grade Topics and Activities Math Websites  Know multiplication facts to 12 x 12 automatically. www.educationcity.com  Read, expand, write, and round numbers to the www.discoveryeducation.com millions place. www.illuminations.nctm.org  Add and subtract within 1,000,000. www.ixl.com  Solve multi-step word problems. (2 or more steps) www.mathcats.com  Multiply four-digit numbers by one digit numbers mixinginmath.terc.edu/materials/athomewithmath.cfm and multiply a two-digit number by a two-digit www.coolmath.com number. www.figurethis.org  Find the factor pairs and multiples of whole www.themathleague.com numbers within the range of 1-100. www.aplusmath.com  Add and subtract fractions and mixed numbers with www.mathplayground.com like denominators. www.sumdog.com  Draw, measure, and label angles (right, acute, and www.khanacademy.org obtuse) using a protractor. (Buy at Dollar Tree…) www.math.com  Find the area of different rooms in your home using only the perimeter and width or perimeter and length. This involves measuring first.
