Understand the “Dialectical Notebook” (or DEJ) and how it can improve reading and writing skills. 3. Explicate “Araby” and “Eveline”. 4. Work cooperatively.</p><p>DO NOW: Swap DEJs with a partner and comment on their comments. </p><p>AGENDA: 1. DO NOW activity. Discuss responses. 2. Form Explication groups and create responses to “Araby” and “Eveline” 3. Discuss chart. Collect DEJs. 4. Assign homework: Timed essay on Araby or Eveline on 9/19. Choose a nonfiction selection with 3-4 classmates. 9/23 Final draft of Major Assertion Essay #1 due September 30. Literary Terms Presentation due 9/23. Be prepared to share insights in a class discussion. </p><p>AGENDA: 1. DO NOW activity. Discuss responses. 2. AP Multiple Choice practice. Discuss responses. 3. Workshop: Book presentations/ Literary terms 3. Homework: Timed essay on Araby or Eveline on 9/19. Reflect on the prompt; list ideas that you want to include in your essay. </p><p>AGENDA: 1. DO NOW activity. Any questions? 2. Timed essay on “Araby” or “Eveline”: 40 minutes.
