No-Cost Training Announcement

Regional Collaboration & Tribal Partnerships Workshop Date: March 30, 2011 Location: West Kennebunk Fire Station 80 Thompson Road Kennebunk, ME 04043 Host Agency: Kennebunk Fire Rescue Local Contact: Stephen Nichols, 207.958.1101, ext. 1340, [email protected]

Historical events, such as 9/11 or Hurricane Katrina suggest that when the United States is confronted with a terrorist attack or with a major disaster, whether natural or man-made, that event usually impacts multiple jurisdictions within a given region. Therefore, a regional approach to homeland security is needed to prepare for future emergencies.

What is this course about? Regional Collaboration & Tribal Partnerships Workshop is the second in a two part series of courses designed to establish and expand homeland security regionalization through the building of both tribal and non-tribal partnerships and collaboration in regions across the United States. In this course, participants will thoroughly investigate a successful regionalization case study, learn and practice team building and collaborative problem solving, work collaboratively with other emergency management, public safety, and community leaders to develop homeland security capabilities and preparedness models specifically for their region, and to choose the top models to be shared at a national symposium on engaging in regional partnerships for homeland security collaboration.

Who should attend? This course is open to a maximum of 60 tribal and non- tribal community leaders and individuals representing offices of homeland security, public safety programs, law enforcement, governmental and non- governmental organizations, schools and post-secondary educational institutions, social service programs, tribal and non-tribal business entities, private sector corporations, and medical organizations. Participants who have attended the Regional Collaboration & Tribal Partnerships course will have first priority.

How do I register?
