<p> UNIVERSITY OF WEST LONDON JOB DESCRIPTION</p><p>Job Title: Audio Technician / Demonstrator Post No: LCM030</p><p>School/Department: London College of Music Grade 5</p><p>Responsible to: Technical Facilities Manager Location: Ealing Campus</p><p>SUMMARY OF MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB</p><p>This is a technician post within a team of audio technicians who are responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of the suite of audio studios on the Ealing Campus under the direction of the Studio Manager. Hardware and Software demonstrations to students are an integral part of the job.</p><p>Working hours are flexible from 9am until 10pm Monday to Friday, however, the post holder will be required to work 10am to 6pm on Saturdays during semesters.</p><p>DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1 To demonstrate hardware and software to students within the LCM Studio environment and Mac labs. 2 To provide technical support for both lecturers and students. 3 To undertake technical duties in the area of acoustic recording, from soloists to symphony orchestras and amplified ensembles. 4 To undertake operation of live sound /recording equipment at external venues. 5 To respond to queries from students with regard to the operation of studio equipment. 6 To work in compliance with Health and Safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment for the technical team and students. 7 To ensure that students comply with studio rules and regulations. 8 To operate the booking system for the studios for students. 9 To construct audio cables to standard specifications as required. 10 Construct stages and PA systems as required by LCM events. PERSON SPECIFICATION</p><p>CRITERIA ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE METHOD OF IDENTIFI CATION (i.e. applicatio n form, interview, both, test)</p><p>Qualifications: Degree in Music Tech or MA in Music Technology or Interview closely related subject related subject documentary evidence</p><p>Knowledge and Fluent in the following software Experience of acoustic Application Form, Experience: packages: Pro Tools, Logic measurement and room interview Pro, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop analysis software</p><p>Significant experience in Detailed knowledge of the location and live sound operation and rigging of particularly classical recording PA systems. and festivals.</p><p>Detailed knowledge of microphone types, placement and use.</p><p>Specific Skills: Ability to operate a recording PC Database knowledge Application Form, studio, specifically Audient and re inventory and room Interview Neve consoles bookings</p><p>Mac software installation and configuration</p><p>General Skills: Ability to electrically wire a Ability to play a musical Application Form, studio, and fault find. instrument and read music Interview</p><p>Other: Good communicator Interview Self motivated and able to work alone under pressure</p><p>Be able to problem solve issues within the University’s studios. </p><p>Essential Criteria are those, without which, a candidate would not be able to do the job. Applicants who have not clearly demonstrated in their application that they possess the essential requirements will normally be rejected at the shortlisting stage. Desirable Criteria are those that would be useful for the post holder to possess and will be considered when more than one applicant meets the essential requirements.</p>
