<p> THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA TRANSFER INFORMATION FOR EDUCATION MAJORS (9/12)</p><p>1. A 2.70 minimum GPA is needed for acceptance into the Teacher Education Program (TEP). Meeting the minimum GPA does not guarantee admission. Most students need at least a 3.00 to be accepted. Students must first apply and be admitted to the University, and then apply to TEP. This application includes a personal statement, letters of recommendation, and other items that require some time for completion, so students are advised to start their application process well in advance of the deadline. Students will need to take the Praxis I tests and have the scores reported by the application deadline. Current TEP application deadlines are March 15 and October 15. [Beginning October 1, 2012, deadlines will be October 1 and March 1.] All students will have to achieve a composite score of 522 on the three Praxis I tests, with no single test score below 170. Foreign Language graduation requirement: four years of the same language in high school or two years (four semesters) of the same language in college. Be sure to keep all course syllabi, tests, exams, projects, papers and any other course material that can be used to document mastery of state performance standards in teacher education. </p>
