Capstone Research Paper Family Issues in an Aging Society (SOC 275) Spring 2002

Your research paper can be either a) a review of current literature in the area or b) your own original research.

The paper should be between 25 and 30 pages. I would like to see a paper topic by ______. This should be one or two paragraphs explaining your research question.

Your paper topic will address a research question. The following are examples of what I have in mind:

a) How does the divorce of one's parents as a child affect relationships with parents in later life?

b) What are the class differences in how adult children relate to elderly parents?

c) What is the history of the court's responses regarding family involvement in life sustaining decisions?

For any of these topics, you would divide your literature review into several subtopics. In the conclusion, you would pull the various issues together and attempt to answer your question, pointing out the multi-faceted issues.

This paper will undoubtedly require materials that the Clark library does not have. BE SURE TO DO YOUR LITERATURE REVIEW AND ORDER ANY MATERIALS AT LEAST 3 WEEKS BEFORE YOU PLAN TO START READING!!!
