<p> Ms. Reynolds’s AP World History Unit #15: Restructuring the Postwar World (Chapter 33) Partner Project – Cold War Battle Lines (400 points)</p><p>Instructions: In connection with your essay and vocabulary for this Unit, you and your partner will create a world map demonstrating the influence of the United States and the Soviet Union during the Cold War (1949-1989). You should reference Chapter 33 of the textbook as your initial source of information. To gather additional information you should reference reputable internet sites, magazines, newspapers, and books. Your completed project must be presented on one piece of white poster board (22X28 inches). If you need help in obtaining poster board please see Ms. Reynolds. </p><p>Partnership Research Assignments 1. Soviet Influence / Soviet Ally: ______2. American Influence / American Ally: ______</p><p>Grading Rubric Map Organization and Appearance (100 points; 25 points per category) 1. Images / Art / Photographs – The Map contains a minimum of 4 printed images. 2 of these images must relate directly to American Influence; 2 of these images must relate directly to Soviet Influence. 2. Written Content – All written content on the map must be printed clearly and neatly. 3. Title and Partnership Names – The map must have a title and the names of both members of the partnership must be written in pen on the back of the collage. 4. Poster Board – The map must be presented on a white sheet of poster board that is 22X28 inches in size.</p><p>Map Content (300 points; 100 points per category) 1. Accurate World Map – The Map must clearly represent all of the continents on the planet. You may use a printed world map as a reference in drawing your map or you may print the map off the internet and glue it to the poster board. The map must cover at least 75% of the poster board. 2. Nations allied with or influenced by the United States and the Soviet Union – The map must highlight the territories influenced by the U.S.A. and the U.S.S.R. between 1949 and 1989. Choose one color to highlight countries influenced by America and another color to highlight countries influenced by the Soviet Union. In addition, you will choose eight countries (4 for America, 4 for the Soviet Union) to research in-depth. For each of these countries you will write or type the following information on your map: Name of the country, Year that it first became allied with the United States or the Soviet Union, Name of one key leader of the country during the Cold War, 3. Images representing the Cold War – On your map you must glue 2 images related to American Influence during the Cold War and 2 images related to Soviet Influence during the Cold War. These images may be printed off the internet or copied from another reliable source. Beneath each image include the year it was created and a brief summary (1 sentence minimum) of what the image represents. </p>
