<p> JOB DESCRIPTION</p><p>Job Title: Employment Service Assistant Post No: </p><p>Responsible to: Head of Employer Grade: 4 Engagement Location: Based at St Mary’s Road, Ealing campus, but you will be required to undertake your duties at any site of the university as required. </p><p>SUMMARY OF MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB</p><p>To work with Employment Service colleagues to facilitate the day to day running of UWL’s Employment Service within The Centre for Employability and Employer Engagement (CEEE). The role involves using effective and accurate communication skills with our clients – students, graduates, employers, university staff; sourcing and processing high volume part time and graduate job opportunities; provision of information and advice on employment related issues; using a range of IT for information, data processing and marketing purposes. </p><p>DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES</p><p>1. Dealing with enquiries about part time and full time employment opportunities from students and recent graduates. </p><p>2. Communicating relevant job opportunities to students and recent graduates with a range of tools including the employment service database (RDB ProNet), email and social media.</p><p>3. Giving information and advice to students and making referrals on issues such as National Insurance, international student working regulations, job search and applications.</p><p>4. Selling the services of the Employment Service and wider CEEE team to employers through networking events, face to face meetings, phone and email contact.</p><p>5. Giving information and advice to employers on advertising their vacancies including advice where necessary on e.g. equal opportunities and the minimum wage.</p><p>6. Registering vacancies from employers and entering and maintaining information on the employment service database.</p><p>7. Assisting with the marketing and organisation of employer visits and presentations including meeting and greeting employers visiting the university.</p><p>8. Acting as first point of contact for the Careers and Employment Service Helpdesk on a rota basis and supervising CEEE student helpers as required. </p><p>9. Liaising with faculties and staff across the university e.g. academics, placements, the enterprise and employer engagement unit and HR.</p><p>10. Updating employment information on paper and on the web (including social networks); preparing handouts and other promotional materials for students.</p><p>11. Assisting with the graduate destination survey (DLHE).</p><p>12. Undertake any other duties as required commensurate with the grade of the post. PERSON SPECIFICATION</p><p>CRITERIA ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE</p><p>Qualifications: Degree or equivalent</p><p>Knowledge and Customer service experience Experience of working in higher Experience: education Experience of working with students and graduates Experience of working in a business environment Experience of working and building relationships with employers </p><p>Experience of using and maintaining a recruitment / CRM database system</p><p>Knowledge and understanding of the employment needs of students, graduates and employers</p><p>Knowledge and understanding of recruitment processes</p><p>Knowledge and understanding of employment legislation and employment rights</p><p>Specific Skills: Ability to use IT for word processing, Basic web skills presentations, internet communication (including social media), database management</p><p>General Skills: Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) with a wide range of clients (students, graduates, employers) to diagnose their needs and respond appropriately</p><p>Ability to work unsupervised, prioritise tasks and apply own initiative when required</p><p>Accurate record keeping and ability to produce statistical data</p><p>Other: Self motivated and enthusiastic </p><p>Able to work under pressure</p><p>Willingness to learn Able to work as part of a team and to support colleagues as necessary i.e. having a flexible approach</p><p>A commitment to equal opportunities and working with a diverse range of people</p><p>Essential Criteria are those, without which, a candidate would not be able to do the job.
