<p>For Immediate Release October 2, 2017 For Further Information, Contact: Captain Derek Glenn (973) 877-9374 Or Public Information Officer Catherine Adams (973) 733-3995</p><p>Police Arrest Newark Man and Juvenile for Two Armed Robberies</p><p>Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports the arrest of Rayquan Miles, 19, and a 15-year old male, both of Newark, in connection with two armed robberies that occurred last night. </p><p>The first robbery occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m. A 55-year old woman was robbed at gunpoint in the 200-block of 2nd Avenue West by two males wearing ski masks. And at 10 p.m., a 67-year old male victim was robbed at gunpoint at Elm and Van Buren streets by two males who fit the same description as the suspects in the earlier robbery. In both cases, the suspects fled by getting into a dark-colored vehicle, believed to be an Infiniti.</p><p>Shortly after midnight, police observed a vehicle fitting the description of the suspect vehicle and initiated a motor vehicle stop, but the driver ignored the officer’s commands to pull over. The vehicle eventually stopped at Irvine Turner Boulevard and Belmont Terrace and the driver and three occupants fled from the vehicle, which had been reported stolen out of Pompton Lakes.</p><p>Police apprehended and arrested Rayquan Miles and the juvenile, who are both charged with two counts of robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Eluding and Receiving Stolen Property.</p><p>These charges are merely accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.</p><p>This investigation is continuing as two other suspects remain at large. Director Ambrose urges anyone with information about these suspects to call the Department's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477) or 1-877-NWK-GUNS (1-877-695-4867).
