What very important event took place shortly before Jesus would suffer and die? Mark 9: The Transfiguration</p><p>2. What was the significance of this event in relation to the resurrection? </p><p>The transfiguration prefigured Christ’s resurrection and the glory with which He would be arrayed after His sufferings and death on the cross.</p><p>3. What did Jesus speak about in the very same chapter of the Transfiguration? Jesus prophesies His coming death and His resurrection.</p><p>4. How did the disciples respond? They were exceeding sorry; they were afraid; they did not understand what Jesus meant.</p><p>5. Jesus begins to travel towards Jerusalem, even though He knows what will take place there. As He travels with His disciples, He mentions at least 8 things that will happen to Him there. 1. 5. 2. 6. 3. 7. 4. 8. Jesus most likely lived 33 years on this earth. The Bible gives us a short history of His birth; we see a glimpse of His childhood when He was at the age of 12; and we know that His public ministry began at age 30 when He was baptized by John. Out of the 33 years of Jesus life and ministry, there is one short week that receives a significant amount of attention! Do the math below to figure out about how much time each of the four Gospels devotes to this one week in Jesus’ life. First find out how many total chapters are in each of the four Gospels. Matthew ______Mark ______Luke ______John ______Now look at the handout “The Events Leading Up to the Passion Week” to find the chapter number in which the Triumphal Entry took place. The Triumphal Entry on “Palm Sunday” marks the beginning of the Passion Week.
