<p> Mission 06/28/2004</p><p>Scripture Reading: Matthew 28:19-20 Acts 1:8 Isaiah 54:1-3</p><p>1. Basic responsibility of a believer: 1) upward: worship and serve the Lord 2) inward: love one another 3) outward: evangelize the world</p><p>2. Why mission? 1) It is the will of God (2 Peter 3:9, John 3:16) 2) It is the command of our Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 1:8) 3) It is the primary work of the Holy Spirit (John 15:26, 16:14) 4) The love of Christ at the Calvary compels us (2 Cor. 5:14) 5) We are in debt of the Gospel (Romans 1:14) 6) Because it is the most valuable thing to do (Matthew 16:26) 7) It is the Greatest need of every human being (Romans 5:1, 2 Cor. 5:20-21, Eph. 2:13-18) 8) Because anytime Christ will come again (Romans 14:11-12, 2 Cor. 5:10, 1 Cor. 3:13)</p><p>3. The key words of the Great Commission: (Matthew 28:19-20) 1) Go 2) Make 3) Baptize 4) Teach</p><p>4. The strategy of the Great Commission: (Acts 1:8, Isaiah 54:1-3) 1) Extend, Expand and Enlarge: Keep on reaching out to the unreached 2) Strengthen: edify the saved</p><p>5. The scope of the Great Commission: (Acts 1:8) Near and far at the same time, the whole world is our mission field.</p><p>6. The goal of the Great Commission: (Matthew 28:19) Make disciples.</p><p>7. How to participate in Great Commission? To Christians, the Great Commission is an obligation, not an option. How? (based on Acts 1:8) 1) “Ends of earth” (uttermost part of the earth) Taiwan, China, Far East, etc. (1) Prayer (Matthew 9:37-38) (2) Financial support (3) Short-term mission (4) Long-term mission</p><p>1 2) “Judea and Samaria” (Surrounding area) Layton, Logan, Pocatello, Boise, Provo, etc. (1) Pray & support the existing Bible Study Fellowship or Churches (2) Plant and support new Bible Study Groups or Churches (3) Gospel Camp and Retreat, etc.</p><p>3) “Jerusalem” (Local) Salt Lake City Area (1) Pray for the non-believers (friends and classmates) (2) Invite them to come to Fellowship and Church (3) Open your house for fellowship – invite your friends to your house (4) Special gathering – Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, etc. (5) Participate in personal evangelism</p><p>Door to Door → Face to Face → Heart to Heart . (6) Identify the need of the community, design evangelistic outreach programs to meet their needs: such as: Marriage Workshop, Parenting Workshop, etc. (7) Community Care Programs</p><p>8. What it means to be successful in Great Commission? Those who obey and go are “Success” in God’s Sight.</p><p>9.
