<p> WHAT’S NEW IN GALIS FOR FY 2013?</p><p>GALIS has been updated to address required FY 2013 NRS changes. We’ve added new fields to the Student Data, Class Data and Staff Data tabs. The Student Data tab has also changed to be in sync with the Intake Form. You will also see cosmetic changes that will simplify excluding and correcting test data. </p><p>NRS Core Goals </p><p>1. All Core Goals will be set automatically based on assessment, demographic and class enrollment data. Core goals cannot be edited by the users. The Core Goals are: A. CG3 – Obtain GED B. CG2.3 – Enter Postsecondary C. CG2.1 – Enter Employment D. CG2.2 - Retain Employment</p><p>2. OBTAIN GED – This goal will be automatically set when the student takes all five parts of the GED test. Goal setting will occur after the GED Data match is run on the 15th of each month.</p><p>3. Enter Postsecondary – This goal will be automatically set if the student meets one of the following criteria: A. Last Grade selected is High School Completed or higher: </p><p>B. Passes all parts of the GED test</p><p>1 C. Enrolls in a class where the Program is designated as 231 -Transition:</p><p>4. Enter Employment – This goal will be set if the student checks the Labor Status box Unemployed: </p><p>5. Retain Employment – This goal will be set if the student check the Labor Status box : Employed</p><p>Student Data Tab - Changes 1. The Student Data tab was updated to add “Some College, no degree” to the dropdown for the required Last Grade field: </p><p>2 2. A drop down was added to capture if the student’s schooling is U.S. Based or Non-U.S. Based. This field is required.</p><p>3. The address has been removed from the Emergency Contact Information section. We have also expanded the options for the relationship of the emergency contact:</p><p>4. The Work Status and Special Needs section has been combined to the Student Status and Special Populations section where fields that are no longer needed have been removed. </p><p>5. The student’s U.S. Schooling and Labor Status must be updated for ALL students. The labor status will not be rolled over. Automatic goals based on the Labor Status will be generated on the first update only. It is critical that this field is correct to allow the system to generate accurate core goals. Any corrections must be sent to the Helpdesk. Below is a screen shot of the student data form:</p><p>3 Student Test Tab – Changes 1. The pre/post test scores will be displayed differently for fiscal year 2013. </p><p>2. Beginning with fiscal year 2013, excluded tests will be sorted to the bottom. All active tests will be displayed in descending date order. Only tests that can be excluded will allow the user to click ‘Edit’.</p><p>4 3. Click ‘Edit’ to exclude an eligible test. The following panel will display”</p><p>4. The user must check exclude, enter the reason for the exclusion in the comments sections and click ‘Update’ to complete the exclusion. Clicking ‘Cancel’ will return you to the ‘Student Test’ page.</p><p>5. GAIN is a newly approved ABE/ASE assessment that is now available in GALIS. For more information please see the Assessment and Policies and Procedures Manual.</p><p>5</p><p>Staff Data Tab - Changes 1. Users are now required to enter the staff’s experience, field of study and certification. The staff member should select the range of the total years of teaching experience from the drop down menu. The field will not be rolled over, it will require the user to enter every year.</p><p>2. Staff members should select their primary field of study. </p><p>3. The user should select all certifications that apply.</p><p>4. The system now allows the staff member to enter their home, cell and work phone numbers.</p><p>6 Class Data Tab - Changes 1. When adding a class the system now requires the subject. </p><p>2. To manage transition classes a new program has been added. Classes selecting this program will enable the system to automatically generate the ‘Enter Postsecondary“ goal when students are enrolled in the class. </p><p>7 This section is applicable to Oconee Fall Line (54) and Wiregrass (55) Technical Colleges Administratively Merged Programs 1. Once you are logged into GALIS, the Local Program will display differently based on the year selected. You will continue to have the authority to see all current and previous fiscal year data.
