<p>Media Event Alert</p><p>For Immediate Release July 13, 2016</p><p>CONTACT Ante Logarusic Public Information Office (440) 974-5794 | [email protected] </p><p>Headlands BeachFest – The Ultimate Beach Party</p><p>July 16, 2016 11 AM – 7 PM Headlands Beach State Park (Map)</p><p>Now in its fourth year, Headlands BeachFest will be held on Saturday, July 16th from 11 AM to 7 PM at Headlands Beach State Park located at 9601 Headlands Road, Mentor, Ohio 44060. </p><p>This free, family-friendly, event attracted nearly 30,000 visitors last year from across Northeast Ohio as well as surrounding states. </p><p>The main attraction is the Ohio Master Sand Sculpture Competition which will feature five champion sand sculptors who have competed around the world. All five have been featured on the Travel Channel’s ”Sand Wars”. Work on the sculptures begin on Thursday, July 14th and will be completed sometime during the afternoon of the event. The sculptors will be available for interview. BeachFest attendees will have the opportunity to vote for the winner of this year’s competition. </p><p>The Ohio Society for the Elevation of Kites will also be demonstrating their precision flight talents throughout the day as well as offering children the opportunity to build a kite and participate.</p><p>A complete schedule of activities is planned throughout the day including a family sand castle building contest, kite making workshop, bubble fun, and a hands-on steel drum experience.</p><p>Live music will be provided by the Akron Steel Drum Band and Island Jeff. Walking entertainment to be provided by the Cleveland Museum of Art, Jasmine Dragons, and others. Twelve gourmet food trucks will be on hand offering a wide variety of delicious foods. Arts & crafts vendors will also be selling beach-themed creations.</p><p>Headlands BeachFest is organized and managed by the City of Mentor.
