<p> Huntington School Council Meeting</p><p>Date: December 6, 2016</p><p>Members Present:, Mrs. Love, Mr. Heath, Laurie Coggins, Mrs. Young, Mrs. Ethridge, Mrs. Smith, Mr. Carson, Dr. Taylor</p><p>Members Absent: Mrs. Ethridge, Mrs. Coggins</p><p>Call to order: Love, secretary, called meeting to order</p><p>Reflection/ Inspiration: Wise Men: 1) Focused on the star – had a goal, 1) Asked directions – Knew they were close but wanted to reach goal so asked for help, 3) Celebrated their success in reaching their goal, 4) Went to their new goal a different way. Our main goal will always be to educate children but we take different roads to do it.</p><p>Pledge of Allegiance: Love, secretary, led the Pledge of Allegiance</p><p>Approval of Agenda: Ms. Love distributed the agenda posted pursuant to the Open Meetings Act. Moved, seconded, and carried that the school council approve the agenda as presented. MOTION: Heath; SECOND: Young VOTE: 6 YES NO 0</p><p>Approval of Minutes: Moved, seconded, and carried that the school council approve the minutes of the Sept 6, 2016 meeting of the HMS School Council. MOTION: Taylor; SECOND: Smith VOTE: 6 YES NO 0 Visitors: None</p><p>Presentation(s) to School Council (if any)</p><p>School Council Training (topic) Ms. Love (presenter)</p><p>Report of Principal: 1) Thank you Mr. Carson for joining the council, thanks to all who are willing to serve.</p><p>2) CCRPI results – HMS went up overall 2.5 points. We showed excellent growth with gains across the board.</p><p>3) Dr. Taylor showed council members the growth model on SLDS. </p><p>4) One main goal is reading intervention – Reading Intervention teacher hired to help with this goal.</p><p>5) HMS has used Peer Observations to help teachers help each other grow and become better.</p><p>6) December 8th – Christmas Lunch</p><p>7) Subject Content Parent Days: 7th Grade Parents – December 7th, 6th Grade – December 8th, 8th Grade – December 5th.</p><p>New Business – </p><p>1) Ms. Love – School Council Training</p><p>Ms. Love calls for a motion to Adjourn: Motion – Heath ; Second- Carson Vote: 6 YES NO 0</p>
