<p> Southeast Georgia Chapter ONS - Membership Meeting – January 21, 2010</p><p>Attendees Place: Pirate’s House Members: 23 Begin: 6:30 PM Guests: 5 Adjourn: 8:20 PM Recorder: Lisa Morgan, Secretary</p><p>TOPIC DISCUSSION Educational Presentation Topic: Cardiac Toxicity in Cancer Patients Speaker: Bridget Rossi, RN, BSN, CCRN, OCN Sponsor: Sanofi-Aventis, hosted by Tom Sexton Welcome President Dana Coleman welcomed everyone and Tom Sexton introduced the speaker Approval of minutes Minutes for the December 2009 meeting were approved. Treasurer Report M. Meyers gave the SEGA treasury report: Chapter funds: $1,551.59 Chapter Dues: $2,971.26 Holiday Project: $2,500.00 CEU Day: $18,238.99 Runway to Recovery: $0</p><p>Committee Reports Discussion Program No report, but meetings have been arranged through May of 2010. Legislative Patty Aiken reported in Sally Welsh’s absence that since the chapter is now a member of the Chamber of Commerce, members should go to the Chamber website and sign up for the e-newsletter. SEGA members are welcome to attend any chamber event by paying the member attendance fee. Patty and Laurel McKeith will be attending Chatham Day at the Capitol on 2/4/10. She also shared a letter from ONS President Carlton Brown about his meeting with President Obama regarding healthcare reform. Scholarship D. Smoak - After the December Board meeting, the amount of the scholarship is now $1000. W. Jones’ recent award was changed to reflect this. Members can apply every 5 yrs. and funds are available now. Holiday M. Meyers reported there was $2500 left in the holiday fund after the family distribution. Membership DeeDee Johnson reported that our local membership numbers are down (currently 34) and to help recruit new members, those members bringing 2 new members to the chapter this year will receive their local dues free next year. Membership applications are available tonight. Local dues are due by March 1st. Look forward 2011-Announcement that Membership dues will be due by January 31st of the new year. $10 will be charged thereafter per meeting until dues are paid. Must have copy of current/active National ONS Status. This was voted and approved by board members in Jan 2010 meeting. Education B. Youmans - Please start thinking of topics for CEU Day. Tom Sexton discussed the changes his company had made in applying for sponsorship of this type of event with chapter President Dana Coleman and we need to get paperwork in about 6 months before the event. Other pharmaceutical companies are going in the same direction. 50/50 $22.00 was added to the treasury. Kitty O’Neil was the drawing winner. Bridget Rossi also gave chocolate popcorn and pretzels as door prizes after the educational program. Nominating No report Runway To Recovery No report Announcements This is SEGA’s 25th anniversary as a chapter. Copies are by-laws are available at the door. Donations of hats, gloves, scarves and socks are still being collected for the homeless. Laurel McKeith announced a lecture series by Dr. Robert Martensen, author of “A Life Worth Living” sponsored by Hospice Savannah on January 28th & 29th. Dana announced that the Charleston, SC Chapter would be holding their CEU day on 3/13/10 from 8-4 and she would ask Jan to include registration info in the chapter newsletter. Dana also passed around sign up sheets for the committees for the upcoming year.
