Check out more info at www.noonmeasures90.org.</p><p>Debbie Castleton (503-823-2831) and Kyle Stephens (503-823-2494) from Bureau of Environmental Services on Columbia Wastewater Treatment Plant and information on odor source identification process and how we can all work together on these types of issues and concerns. BES received an increased number of complaints about odor over the summer and fall. Processes have changed in that there is now an open tank system where the microorganisms are being used to break down the sewage. They are working with the design team to deal with this design flaw. There is also another smell that they are trying to determine if it is the new treatment process and the new tank, or if it is something that is a waste product from industrial sites. They are monitoring and sampling various industrial sites. Use online notification as best communication: www.portlandoregon.gov/40202. DEQ and Department of Agriculture also have notification websites for odors, if you believe the odor is not related to the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
