IDEA governs how states sand public agencies provide early intervention, special education and related services to eligible infants, toddlers, children and youth with disabilities.

Individualized Education Plan (IEP) In the US, IDEA requires public schools to develop an IEP for every student with a disability who is found to meet the federal and state requirements for special education. The IEP must be designed to provide the child with a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). The IEP refers both to the educational program to be provided to a child with a disability and to the written document that describes the education program.

Illinois State Board of Education www.isbe.com

Illinois State Board of Education, Special Education page http://www.isbe.net/spec-ed/Default.htm

Illinois Statewide Technical Assistance Center www.is-tac.org http://www.isbe.net/spec-ed/html/ta_projects.htm

www.pepartnership.org

Illinois State Board of Education Parent Rights Parent Guide This guide provides a wide variety of information about special education, including example letters for a variety of situations described within the guide. http://www.isbe.state.il.us/SPEC-ED/html/parent_rights.htm

No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) http://www.isbe.net/nclb/default.htm

Parent Involvement (NCLB, Section 1118) http://www.isbe.net/grants/html/parent.htm

PCM 2.4 Special Education Categories: www.isbe.net/spec-ed/html/categories.htm

Due Process www.isbe.net/spec-ed/html/forms.htm District Request for Impartial Due Process Hearing Officer Parental Request for Impartial Due Process Hearing

Individualized Education Program (IEP) www.isbe.net/spec-ed/html/forms.htm IEP Instructions IEP Forms (English) Instructions IEP Forms (Spanish) IEP Forms PowerPoint Presentation June 2007 Summary of Performance

Notice and Consent www.isbe.net/spec-ed/html/forms.htm Required Notice & Consent Forms, including the Explanation of Procedural Safeguards (see 34- 57J) (provided in Arabic, Chinese, English, Gujarati, Korean, Polish, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Urdu, Vietnamese, Chinese) Required Notice and Consent Instructions

Private Residential Placement Room & Board Reimbursement www.isbe.net/spec-ed/html/forms.htm Application for Approval for of Private Residential Placement Room & Board Reimbursement Form

Families and Advocates Partnership for Education (FAPE) www.fape.org FAPE Publications www.fape.org/pubs/index.htm

PACER CENTER www.PACER.org PACER Publications www.pacer.org/publications/specedrights.asp

National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities (NICHCY) www.nichcy.org NICHCY Publications www.nichcy.org/InformationResources/Pages/NICHCYPublications.aspx

PCM 2.4
