Go to SLPS.ORG then select Schools, select Soldan ISHS, then select AFJROTC</p><p>Course Overview: The curriculum includes Aerospace Science (AS) and Leadership Education (LE), and Wellness components. All students are granted academic credit applicable toward graduation requirements for the successful completion of AFJROTC courses provided by the Air Force equivalent to credit given for other academic courses per the Air Force School Agreement. Each academic course must consist of Aerospace Science (AS), Leadership Education (LE) and Wellness components</p><p>Course Content: The leadership curriculum is the basis for progression through the rest of the AFJROTC program while instilling elements of good citizenship. Second Semester curriculum contains sections on Understanding Groups and Teams and Preparing for Leadership. </p><p>Course Objective: Students will be able to: Understand guidance and procedures for the organization and operation of the cadet corps Learn to communicate and work together as a team Develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their community Recognizing civic responsibilities Learn, understand, and put into practice course subject material Establish and find a course of action for real-time and future goals </p><p>Course Materials/Information: *Books will remain in the classroom but can be checked out. *Binders and workbooks will remain in the classroom (unless making up work). *Cadets MUST bring paper and pen or pencil to class daily except on PT days. *Cadets MUST wear uniform once a week & PT uniform on Fridays. *Objectives and Do Now will be posted on the board every day; make sure you read them! *It’s the Cadet’s responsibility to ensure missed assignments and tests/quizzes must be made up. You must make up assignments (to include missed uniforms) w/in the quarter. *Information on uniform wear/requirements, PT uniform requirements and grading are in the Cadet Guide found in each classroom and on the web under JROTC. http://www.slps.org//</p><p>As of: 05/07/18 Course Lessons:</p><p>Unit 1 Learning, Communication, and Personal Development</p><p>Chapter 1: Learning and Communication</p><p>Lesson 1: Learning to Communicate Lesson 2: Learning to Listen Lesson 3: Learning to think Critically</p><p>Chapter 2: Communicating Effectively Lesson 1: The Basic Checklist Lesson 2: Writing Effectively Lesson 3: Speaking Efectively</p><p>Unit 2 Building Personal Awareness</p><p>Chapter 3: Understanding your Attitude</p><p>Lesson 1: Interpreting Events and Experiences Lesson 2: Building a Positive Attitude Lesson 3: Overcoming Challenging Experiences</p><p>* Course Grade Break Out</p><p>* Leadership – 40% of overall AFJROTC grade (All assignments are equal in value)</p><p>** Each week you will receive at least 2 grades from us; PT and Leadership. All cadets will have a uniform grade each week along with the PT grade at a minimum. Each grade is worth 100% possible points. Workbooks, projects, tests, and drill evaluations will also be worth 100%. </p><p>* Missed Uniform wear must be made up; three (3) misses a quarter result in an F.</p><p>* PT– 20% of overall AFJROTC grade (Dress 25%; Participation/Conduct 75% out of 100%). PT will always be on Friday. </p><p>* School Expectations: 1. Be in your assigned seat and ready to work when the bell finishes ringing. 2. Have paper, pencils/pens, books and all needed supplies everyday. 3. Keep hands, feet, books, and objects to yourself. 4. No profanity, rude gestures, teasing, or put downs. 5. Follow directions of the Student Discipline Handbook and all school adults unless the request is illegal, immoral, or unsafe.</p><p>NOTE: This syllabus is subject to change based on schedule conflicts, events and/or special guests.</p><p>As of: 05/07/18</p>
