<p> STATE OF OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION</p><p>SUPPLEMENT 1070 QUICK SETTING CONCRETE MORTAR (705.21) FIELD SERVICE TESTING PROCEDURE</p><p>April 18, 2008</p><p>1070.01 Description 1070.02 Patching Material Installation 1070.03 Rating of Field Performance 1070.04 Reporting</p><p>1070.01 Description. This supplement describes the field service test procedure requirements of 705.21 for Quick Setting Concrete Mortars. The field service testing will be performed through the National Transportation Product Evaluation Program (NTPEP) of the American Association State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO). </p><p>1070.02 Patching Material Installation. The field service test will follow the requirements of NTPEP’s Rapid Set Concrete Patch and be evaluated through NTPEP. The Department may witness the complete surface preparation and material installation as it is performed by the vendor. The Manufacturer will notify the Department when material is being installed on the NTPEP test site. The method of surface preparation and any primers, adhesives, or activators shall become part of the material system for subsequent approval or use. </p><p>1070.03 Rating of Field Performance. The NTPEP annual inspection of the patching material will be made to evaluate the performance. NTPEP raters will record the following:</p><p>A. Percentage delamination, as determined by sounding B. Percentage spalling C. Mid panel average crack width and total length D. Edge cracking/debonding average width and total length. E.</p><p>1070.04 Reporting. The field performance of the quick setting concrete mortar will be reported annually by NTPEP.</p><p>1 2</p>
